Any idea on 981 Spyder numbers.. over 100, under 200, or ?! And if its going to be PDK only or manual option too?
Pure speculation on my part but as they do sell 60/40 pdk v sticks I am sure they will offer both boxes. Numbers there lies the BIG question. If it had a suncap then 100 max and not forcing every dealer into a couple of demo cars would be more than enough for the UK market place. If it gets some sort of user friendly manual single skin folding roof then they could probably find 200 buyers but I think price and spec are going to be a key issue as the 981 GTS w Sport Chassis ticks so many boxes already despite its £5k premium over an S or no premium what so ever if you want the extra kit on a stock S What I would like to have seen 550 examples world wide to celebrate 60th anniversary of the 550 RS Spyder and say 55 max for the UK against firm customer orders and no dealer demo's A standard spec, performance and bhp to justify say a £65k base price along with a Spyder bespoke colour like they did with the Cayman R's [] That recipe was a major success story for the 997 Speedster with just 356 examples world wide compared to the other 2 911 Speedster efforts that struggled for many years due to the numbers produced 2100+ on Gen 1 and 1300+ on Gen 2 and then 356 only for their most successful version to dateORIGINAL: philnotts99 Any idea on 981 Spyder numbers.. over 100, under 200, or ?! Thanks, yes you may well see me again in a Spyder dependant on how the 981 turns out! I'd actually look at having a 987 Spyder again in a few years when funds allow to have more than one weekend car. It's a great package and I think the looks will be timeless.ORIGINAL: daro911 Great colour great car hope you have some more great journeys[8D] Could you return in a 981 Spyder eventually[&o]

That's great to hear. www.dspyda.com didn't have as much activity when it existed. We must've done something right over here[] Congrats and enjoy the new steed. As you say, weight is less of a concern when you've got a stonking engine[] But try to keep your licence[]ORIGINAL: Big E I really enjoyed the Spyder and I must say thanks to you all as this thread has to be the most informative, helpful owners thread I've ever encountered.
I know for you daro the 2 quintessential components of a sportscar are the soundtrack and open air above your head. Whereas for me i'm not passionate about either of those things, so my opinion is skewed. I think the soundtrack on that GTS is great, but for me, coming out of that car is too contrived. When i hear a wail of a heavily modified Toyota Supra doing 60mph in 2nd gear but turn around to find it's a Citreon Saxo doing 20mph it sounds out of place. Likewise i wouldn't want my Boxster or 911 turning heads as if a Ford GT40 was coming. But as a soundtrack, who needs a radio if you enjoy listening that type of thing; it does give you a lot of what you're looking for.ORIGINAL: daro911 Checkout the new PSE which must be standard kit on the 981 Spyder[] Music to my ears Tell him he is not only wrong but needs to get another job testing only electricity driven cars[] http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=31095
