Hello sailor [;)]I think you went a bit overboard with that picture!! The Silver looks nice but not my choice...had it been in GT Silver think it would look cool . Once had a Bosxter 986 550 special in GT

ORIGINAL: jdpef356 Snap still have my 550 spyder - they only did them in GT Silver[;)]

I've a major service is booked this week. Think I am going to stick a 2-year warranty on it too - either for my own piece of mind for the time I have with the car, or to make resale easier should I decide to jump back into an air cooled car as I really miss it (yes, I know that is gay). Few questions for the knowledgeable: 1, are these tyres going to get through the 111 point inspection?

Fronts look completely fine. Rears I have something in my mind that says they specify a minimum tread depth higher than the legal minimum? My problem is I am just way to busy to sort this stuff out at the moment - and clearly don't want an issue with the renewal or to get hit with OPC tyre prices. 2, if I take my own oil: – what do I need to buy – how much do I need to buy – where sells it that I can get to easily (have not finalised Costco membership!) 3, I have unplugged the solenoid or whatever it is on the sports exhaust in the engine bay. Do I need to plug this back in? In theory this should be fine as it does work, it is merely unplugged? 4, As my car is currently in warranty and less than 8-years old, am I correct in thinking I am looking at what Porsche call a 'warranty extension', not a 'stand-alone warranty'? Any guesses on how much the service will cost? Sorry if someone has already answered any of this lot for me already – I have a really poor memory.

Option was to have the wheels silver without the dark inserts. Also you did not have to have Coca Brown (which most did) Instead you could opted for Dark grey leather interior which mine has. I think four Porsches is not enough[;)]

Hard to tell from those photos look well worn in the photos[][:D] I believe the limit is 4ml .I know they cannot sell you a car with less . Mobil 0-40 full syn ...some OPC allow you using your own some don't approx. 9 ltrs Any motor factor Costco cheaper . Can;t comment but think it will be ok Warranty extension the fact that you have warranty on the car you should not have to pay for the 111point check I would have thought you would have had a fixed price before you committed to putting the car in I believe there are additional costs for Aircon check Brake fluid change .Tyre sealant change No doubt discs and pads will come up as well ....take a Large tube of Vaseline it may lessen the pain [:D] [:D] This is my understanding but you should check with the OPC in question [:D]

Mine was the dark grey interior and hood ..I do not like the Co-Co interior and hood ,my wheels where the darker ones always though they should have done the wheels in GT as a well. Mine was also Tiptronic

Thanks :) Will get the oil as they said I can supply it. Think it has to have the 111 point check - have the booklet from Porsche next to me. Seems a bit daft given most of it is probably covered in the service! Trying not to think about the disks and pads as I am expecting that!!!!!!! Cost of the service is on their website - £610 for the service, £150 for brake fluid. £180+VAT for the 111-point, £1,595 for the 2-year warranty extension. Guessing I am in for £3k!

Is this the correct oil? http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-68959-mobil-1-0w-40-new-life-fully-synthetic-engine-oil.aspx Mobil 1 0W-40 New Life Fully Synthetic Engine Oil

That's the correct oil.. Costco is the cheapest perhaps some one could loan you their card or get it for you .. My take on the 111 point check was as long as you had warranty left and you were extending it and getting the service there was no charge .

My understanding is that the OPC do not get commission on the extended warranty and therefore would charge for the 111 point check unless bundled with other OPC services.

If you are getting the car serviced and warranty - the dealer should let you off without the 111 point check... if he doesnt , find another dealer...!

That's true Ralph. I was charged half price when I renewed the extended warranty with the service, the "excuse" being that many of the items covered by the 111-point check aren't included in the service and that they had to charge for the additional labour. Incidentally, I think that a minimum tread depth of 3mm passes the 111-point check. At least, that's what PCs guarantee when selling the pre-owned cars. Jeff
