ORIGINAL: tyinsky Thanks :) Will get the oil as they said I can supply it. Think it has to have the 111 point check - have the booklet from Porsche next to me. Seems a bit daft given most of it is probably covered in the service! Trying not to think about the disks and pads as I am expecting that!!!!!!! Cost of the service is on their website - £610 for the service, £150 for brake fluid. £180+VAT for the 111-point, £1,595 for the 2-year warranty extension. Guessing I am in for £3k!
Don't forget that there's a 10% club discount with Opie Oils. The 111 point check has been FOC when bundled in with other service work. My OPC are also usually up for a bit of discounting from their menu servicing pricing for being a club member as well. Steve

Fairly quiet on here of late. Many a Spyderman sold up in recent months. Quite a variation of cars that were the next step after Spyder, many of which were quite a big step up. How many Spydermen left?

Hi John. I shouldn't ask if yours is still a keeper. I'm sure you're building bigger garage if you feel for something different, so you can still keep the Spyder, and the rest[:)] Hope all is well. P.S. i'm liking being back in Guards Red. Really suits a Porsche I think[:)] Haven't asked yet if it's a Ferrari (which happened once with the Cayman[:D])

I think all the manual owners are left, but we are out driving :p I don't want to sound like a twunt, but the 5 PDK owners did not keep their cars long :-( yes they post still but they sold up !!! I cannot think of another car to match a manual Spyder bar a V6 Exige, it is the perfect 2nd car.

I can think of 3 manual owners who sold up and that's without checking the whole list[;)] But I won't go any further on this topic[:)]

This pdk owner only sold because of the need for 4 seats... I can expressly tell you all that the pdk is fantastic when compared to the Bentley's paddle shift!!!

I would definitely look at getting a Spyder again as an occasional car when funds and garage space allow but I would go for a manual over a PDK this time. I think the PDK is an accomplished dual clutch but not sure it suits the Spyder's lightweight and connected feel. I have had a few DC cars and enjoy driving them, as I did the Spyder but I do feel a manual just fits the Spyder profile more. To give the excellent connection to the road and steering the Spyder does and then to take a bit of that connection away with the PDK does seem a bit wrong. I really enjoyed my PDK Spyder, I just feel I might have enjoyed a manual a little more! As for the V6 Exige, what a stunningly quick car but way too small for me. I'm 6'3 and can't get my legs under the wheel! A friend has one and I can't even drive the thing. Enjoying the new R8 though, that 5.2 is a peach of an engine!

I can as I have owned a manual short shift and own a paddle shift PDK I can't stress how brilliant the short shift Spyder is and how "equally" brilliant the PDK paddle shift is too Like you I was once so anti anything without 3 pedals but unlike you I have made the switch and can tell you the fun factor thrill factor entire driving experience is not lacking in a single thing for me and my weekend blasts

I went to PDK Cayman S - from a manual Spyder purchased back in May 2010 - the second in the Club I believe. Don't miss the roof! I have done 9000 miles in the Cayman since mid May so the decision to change was probably the right one - the Spyder market seems very (and in my view unnecessarily) mileage sensitive and I also swerved the big bill Tyinsky is about to splash out on. On a sunny day, I do miss the Spyder though.

I'm just in negotiation with a dealer re an Exige V6. There may be a manual Spyder on the market if things go to plan...
