I am still here, a devoted Spyder man. No Williams stickers for me. I need a 1976 Le Mans sticker for the car. (Porsche 936 Martini No.20 1976 winner driven by Jacky Ickx and Gijs van Lennep)

F-TYPE MANUAL - CONFIRMED even the old boys jag wants to go back to manual now !!! there is life after 60...

ORIGINAL: MrDemon but the 5 PDK owners did not keep their cars long :-( yes they post still but they sold up !!!
Apart from daro911 and me! I've got nothing against manual, that's what I drive daily. I do think PDK suits the Spyder though, despite what all the naysayers think. That's not to say it's better than a manual though, just different and it makes for a very exciting drive in its own way. The top two in Evo magazine's car of the year were auto/dual clutch and they didn't like the gear ratios in the manual Cayman, which came third, so who knows if it might have fared better with PDK. ORIGINAL: rob.kellock ...and I also swerved the big bill Tyinsky is about to splash out on. On a sunny day, I do miss the Spyder though.
Are you trying to unsettle me?! Haha. Will report back on Saturday when I collect it. There is a lovely 993 for sale at the moment. If someone offered me a decent price for the Spyder I would buy it. Such a fickle fucker!

On paper sounds like it could be the quickest and smoothest short shifter made to date![;)] Will the GT4 be able to compete with Jags 21st century efforts The manual is the first to be fitted to a Jaguar sports car since the E-type, and the new six-speed gearbox is called Quickshift and will be available only in conjunction with the F-type’s supercharged V6 engine. The “short-travel” gearlever is said to have a throw of just 45mm and “closely spaced ratios”. Jaguar says the gearbox was developed in association with ZF and uses an aluminium casing and “innovative semi-dry sump lubrication system”. The ’box has a rod linkage between the lever and selector forks for “the most direct connection”. The F-type’s centre console has been reshaped to allow the driver’s arm the maximum amount of free movement. Jaguar says that rather than “the usual splash lubrication”, the new gearbox gets a compact mechanical pump that is driven off the layshaft and sprays oil on to the gear teeth, bearings and synchroniser rings. This has reduced oil capacity to just 1.2 litres, which, in turn, has allowed a small ’box casing. The new manual ’box will be offered with the V6 in both 335bhp and 375bhp forms.

Are you both referring to 987 manual or 981 manual. How do they compare? I'm enjoying the manual in the turbo. Don't know how it compares to the transmissions on the other 997 engines but the shift has no notchiness with the short shift I had fitted. Always feel fluid.

ORIGINAL: MrDemon I think all the manual owners are left, but we are out driving :p I don't want to sound like a twunt, but the 5 PDK owners did not keep their cars long :-( yes they post still but they sold up !!! I cannot think of another car to match a manual Spyder bar a V6 Exige, it is the perfect 2nd car.
I'm just in negotiation with a dealer re an Exige V6. There may be a manual Spyder on the market if things go to plan...
PM sent

Can anyone advise me on something - From reading the forums I know how stringent Porsche are on enforcing originality to keep their warranty - if I purchased a non OPC car, where the wheels had been sprayed black as an aftermarket job, would it be refused an OPC warranty ?

Received, and replied via email I can answer your question regards the wheels. I had mine done by Exel wheels, so not by an OPC. I have since had the warranty extension put on my car with no issue.

Email your local OPC and get it confirmed it is 100% covered in all areas bar the paint finish on wheels [;)]Many OPC offer to repaint alloys so I can't imagine any issues with those that have after market paint finish changes made independently

I have had wheel colour changed via OPC and no issues on warranty. Some OPCs do strange things so best to check with yours.

+1 for above as I did exactly the same by the same company and no issues come warranty renewal , I would say as long as the wheels are genuine Porsche then a colour change no issue. Cheers.

off tomorrow to opc for first mot albeit a month early and going to have the 111 point check done at the same time to save a bit of time and money(opc doing mot in with cost of 111 point check).i was not going to put warranty on the car but if the cayman gt4 turns out to be a peach then it will help with the sale of the spyder next spring if not before what do i ask for if i want a copy of the print out of rev report, hours engine running etc?
