As we know the 987 Spyder deal breaker for most was the "suncap" my fears that a 981 Spyder would not repeat this feature along with the humped rear deck could easily give us this worldcarfans scoop as the next Syder (RS)[] Unlined manually operated folding roof must save a good 20kg, then add in all our standard 987 Spyder kit right down too the smaller fuel tank and strap door pulls this would equate to a good 60kg plus saving over a GTS with its stock PASM v lighter tighter sport chassis set up. Add in the Cayman GTS engine spec for the extra 15 bhp, sports chrono, PSE and a list price of circa £58k without air con & radio (10% above a GTS) and we have the 2016 981 Spyder possibly in one bespoke Spyder only colour[&o] So who would change the original for the latest

Have to agree ...not what I thought it would be like .I drove a Cayman GTS today and it cost £67K awesome sounding car was hoot to drive and very quick , could I live with the constant drone from the exhaust not sure When in Sport + mode it was insane... .They had a Boxster GTS in the showroom at £66K .I did like the PDK shift and would defiantly go down that route if I was to change .

No drone with the Boxster GTS guess thats something to do with the Cayman being a hatchback tin top [&o] GTS is an awesome car for the money and with the sport chassis it sits that much lower and handles sublimely [;)] If this car is the Spyder RS it's going to be a fantastic driver for sure shame about the missing humps[]

I think i will keep the 987 for a bit longer, maybe buy the new model in a couple of years ,when its lost 20k because its just not that special.i would like to drive one,but it just is not enough over and above what we all currently have and love!!

OMG i managed to post a picture, stupid system this. just finished the pasangers side glove box retrim and fit (off ebay not the ones off the car) quite pleased with the result, shame the pictures do not do it justice. drivers side next then perhaps the door handles

Keith Are you trying to create a Limited Edition model ? looks nice and defiantly a one off ,thing is it can all be returned to standard at any time . Have only sat the sample on the seat you sent me still thinking looks nice.

thats what happens when you started at 14 building your first car, a custom car. bad habits perhaps. as you say it can be put back to standard in a day

think i may do the gator red with black stitching and leave the knob grey, i have seen some red ones and it gets too dirty quickly. i will perhaps leave the hand brake and certral arm rest in grey to match. i need to get some rear section of the door handle/arm rests as i think they are exclusive to the Spyder as they are not the same as the Boxster and have a 987 part number. may have to go to Porsche for those, dam it

ORIGINAL: jayxx83 Couldn't work out how to embed. Little vid of the Spyder when I picked it up!
It's a moment you will never forget but with this video thats a guarantee [:D] She looks brand new Have fun in the 2015 sun when it arrives[8D]

Anyone keeping their Spyder for another two years might consider what it really should stand them. In other words what would it be worth if you had bought a normal depreciating car such as a Boxter S. I suspect if it were any car other than the Spyder it would, in two years, be worth less than 20k. If you can get your head around this and accept the car's outstanding uniqueness and therefore long term investment potential, with thrown in fun, why not keep the Spyder. In normal terms it will stand you less than 20k and you could still go out, when your ready and buy what ever you want, maybe 3/4 years old with low mileage. If however there is another Porsche which is equally unique looking, with the same sort of reviews and with only 200 of them in the UK, in this price range, then that might make a decision harder. P.S. If anyone knows where to find a car that fits this description, other than the Spyder please let us all know. It seems unlikely even in the future Porsche, now VAG, will make the same "mistake" twice, resulting in a car with a UK run of 200 aprox. costing less than 100k.

"P.S. If anyone knows where to find a car that fits this description" the GT4 with only 200 UK models and only 100 2015 cars and of course the Cayman R :) which I will be very sad to sell... hence my 2015 garage will be my Spyder and a GT4 :) like money in the Bank. we need to remember the 2016 Spyder will only be 150 cars, but it looks like it has no humps and a normal roof... but no spec leaks of that bar the April launch date.
