So have any current Spydermen a LOI in for the possible Gen 2 version [&o] Probably with a 3.4L hopefully in 991 tune 350bhp with some weight savings, sport chassis and PDK option could be good for a 0-62mph in 4.6 secs[:D]

This, enthusiasts and gearheads, might just be the next incarnation of the Porsche Boxster Spyder, based on the new(ish) 981 chassis. Posted to enthusiast forum Planet-9, the photos show a completely undisguised Boxster wearing the iconic Spyder top. We’ve already seen the car in testing as a prototype, but to date, none of our spy shots have captured the car with the stretched top typical of the Spyder. Speculation has also included the revival of an older name for the new Spyder: RS Spyder, last given to a 2007 model paying homage to the 718 RS 60 Spyder race car from the 1960s. With the Boxster GTS sporting a 330-horsepower engine already, and the track-focused GT4 coming to Geneva next month, the Spyder, or RS Spyder, would fit into a natural gap in the range, offering increased output, more track-focused equipment, and the unique Spyder style. One possible engine option for Porsche is the 3.4-liter flat six from the GTS, but with upgraded output near the 380-hp mark. Along with the power upgrades, enhancements to the brakes, suspension, and tires would also be necessary, along with weight savings typical of past Spyders, such as a stripped interior, option deletes, and carbon fiber components. A mid-cycle facelift is due for the Boxster range sometime in 2016, so introduction of a Spyder may presage that second-half push in the Boxster’s life cycle to extend sales

My LOI has been in since November. same dilemma though do I trade in current Spyder or sell privately I have never sold privately before -seems a lot of hassle with possibility of getting swindled !!Though I guess bank transfers are pretty safe ? Sale or return via OPC is another option. i did this with my 996 Turbo when buying current Spyder seemed to work well

so that looks like 2 Spyder men moveing on, post the specs i am sure there are some lurkers waiting for the right car to pop up

Sell it to 911V he loves them ;-) is it the next best thing though ? I guess if you order PDK and had PDK in your old one then yes it is. will it weight more, yes def , it has to with the electric roof, PCM etc etc the 987.2 was a headline 80kg lighter if you bought it as it was launched !!! will it recreate the 987.2 spyder, not really imo. will it be a car you can drive every day, yes I think it will be, that's a good thing if you only want 1 car and want the best car in that model range, (I only ever own the best car in the model range) Only reason I have gone for the GT4 is that 3.8 lump, Big brakes and adjustable control arms all round. and it's the top model in the model range. (see above ;-) ) if it is very usable it will kill GTS Boxster resale on day one ! very hard car to pitch for Porsche the 981 Spyder, as we have the BGTS and we have the GT4 which is a GT (motorsport car) car. I guess with even less 981 Spyders than GT4's coming to the UK it will be hard to get one unless you are in with your OPC, LOI it seems don't work that well, My OPC is thinking about scraping the LOI and going the Ferrari route of invite only. If you have LOI in at more than 1 OPC remove it now, Porsche will see it come deposit time and you won't get a car even if you were 1st in the list. (I know some here do have more than 1 loi in) dangerous game imo. As tech drives cars and people who like tech move their older tech, what does than mean for the 987.2 PDK Spyder ? we have seen a lot of PDK owners here move cars on quite fast, while a lot of Manual owners seem to be holding onto them. all imho of course ;-)

I have read some BS in my time but that ad takes the biscuit!

the ball has started to roll, once every car for sale has a 50K price tag the buyers will have no choice and i think they will still go quickly

Top money for questionable spec. Looks like all the weight adding options have been specced! Would have thought a black series would be the way forward if you wanted the revised engine map with all the toys. Still good luck to the seller. I think the new spyder will be even rarer. East London opc told me they were allocated 9 GT4 but only 3 Spyders.

9 GT4 lol I very much doubt it. And they don't have Spyder allocation yet ! But yes it will be rarer than the Gt4.

lol it was an interesting read

if it is to be the new "Spyder" and not the new club sport, they will build as many as they can sell, after all it is not a motorsport build. the 987/2 Spyder was a sales failure, that is why there are so few

Do you think those look like 981 rear light clusters?
