Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Leeds OPC (last weekend) had "no details on the car, they only had the info / pictures on the web forums". Apparently they are already holding a number of LOI's for the new Spyder. They didn't mention anything about whether I'd be wanting to place a deposit for a vehicle.
ORIGINAL: kitchens Mine said had no idea and no details of the car ..so it is still a guessing game

OPC say that I won't be able to fit a GT3 master cylinder and still have the extended warranty (due to the part not being for the chassis), and similarly not a PCCB master cylinder (as it doesn't match the rest of the braking system). Since I still want to extend the warranty (we'll leave that can of worms unopened!), then I'll have to stick with the standard brake setup [8|]
ORIGINAL: Steve Brown Thanks for the insight Andy. I'm going to look into getting it done in Spring. Steve
ORIGINAL: Andy Steve, it doesn't make the pedal jumpy in the slightest and it DOES get rid of the "Squidgyness". IMHO it makes the pedal perfect for the car. When I had mine done in October 2013 it was £302.31 + VAT for the MC part number 997.355.910.30. However I believe you can buy it as a TRW part for much less.

ORIGINAL: philnotts99 Just had a call from one of the OPC's who has stated "Porsche are to reveal the Boxster Spyder in April so if you wish to place a deposit to guarantee yourself a car please contact me asap" Anyone else had such a call? Or paid a deposit yet?
don't get fooled by the deposit thing I paid my GT4 deposit way after launch day and got a car. If the OPC wants you to have a car you will get a car the bigger question is to ask "are you going to allocate me a car from the 2 you might get in 2015 ? "
So no 918 Spyders owners pushing you out the frame then!no new porsche ever purchased ,no deposit on time !so how did you get a car?also most dealers if no deposit paid at launch no car! My dealer is now saying any loi for any forthcoming special has no weight!so best to get deposit down asap as shows you are firm buyer and not a time waster although still no guarantee of a car!
I have a good rep with my OPC and they know I don't mess them about, my LOI place stood which was 2nd , if I did not have the loi then I would have NOT got a car. I kept asking to pay a deposit and my OPC said "why" all it will do is sit in our bank ! you normally have 2 weeks from launch day to pay your deposit, it does not get you a build slot. If some OPC's are backing out of LOI it's now a lottery with those OPC's and to ask for a deposit stinks imo if they know you are not getting one, why offer false hope and take your money ? I think more OPC took real deposits on GT4 because some were expecting 7 or 8 cars like they got GT3's but it seems GT4 are handed out more even across the OPC's this time. Like wise Spyders will prob be 2 per OPC per year, so your OPC knows who he wants to give them to already from the LOI lists

ORIGINAL: Tracy Wilkins Yes I have been contacted by my PC regarding the new Spyder to place a deposit down but have declined. Tracy Boxster RS
Why?
Not practical for me as an everyday car i use my 981 everyday come rain or shine . Also the rumour is its a 3.4 not that anything is official of course and not the 3.8 of the GT4 Tracy.

I see our point. I'm really torn as to what to do. New shiny toy or keep the more pure Spyder! I would like to go next year but i see this being very challenging effort with an OPC.

Yes 100%. But why would that make up my mind! lol

ORIGINAL: Andrew Killington I was told that it's against Porsche rules of business to take deposits before an official announcement [:-]
I think that is true for Porsche Retail Group OPCs but not others.

Me too and a reminder of what we are all talking about [:D]

It's an embroidered logo that they are concealing with tape to hide the model of the car. Probably deliberately used thin tape as this is a leaked picture, so the logo is printing through the tape.

ORIGINAL: MrDemon the new seats are height adjustable, DON''T tell the wife !!!!
Thanks - Wife not allowed near or by the Spyder [:D] If I get a Spyder I wanted "full" leather interior & seats and I can hear my OPC saying that is not possible []

So another call to the OPC. They are taking deposits to secure your LOI place. No more info apart from it will be called the 981 Spyder and released for sale on the 1st April. No idea on numbers, spec etc etc. Still very un-sure as to what to do. I guess due to the very low numbers these will all go and you wont be saving 10k off list price 6-12 months down the line!!
