Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

ORIGINAL: Mepal47 Just put a deposit down for the new spyder
What sort of deposit did you have to put down - I have always been led to believe until a car is officially announced money should never be asked or taken [&o] Congratulations by the way [8D]

So to recap there is billy1's Black Beauty which he thinks is almost sold [;)] so that leaves "ONE" Spyder left for sale today in the UK! Which is definitely an all time low since launch back in March 2010[8D]

I would like to think it was sold but cannot see it at that price TBH
It was first on Autotrader and then PH, disappeared from both so unless the owner has had a change of heart the signals are that it sold Maybe the new owner will appear on here every soon.

Any thoughts anyone that this 981 has a dummy suncap fitted over the standard Boxster roof and that is how the new car will get its folding (unlined lightweight!)roof be it manual like an MX5 or electric like the standard Boxsters The rear humps will be there but possibly no flying buttress look when the top is up [&o]

Possible but would the humps leave room for the roof to fold back? Maybe, as I think you said earlier, the "boot" panel comes back as it opens to let the roof down? Still can't believe it will be a Spyder as we know it on 1 April, for reasons previously mentioned. Surely to make a car as unique as this again it would have to be limited numbers and therefore very expensive. I would be delighted to be wrong as this does look a "proper" Spyder.

Lots of roof shots in this link http://www.worldcarfans.com/115022089163/porsche-boxster-spyder-spied-by-wcf-reader/lowphotos#2

ORIGINAL: MrDemon I still think the PDK market is now very slow for a 987.2 Spyder. And I still think the 987.2 manuals will be £55k this year if not next. the auto box from year dot has never sold well 2nd hand down the line, most sales on this thread are PDK owners moving on to newer things. Not die hards who want a fun drivers car for the weekend and now feel to old to get into a Elise. The market is big for cars which feel more real and prices will reflect that going forward. Is there even a manual bucket seated car for sale today with spyder wheels ? you just don't see them come up these days
We've seen plenty of manual cars and PDK cars come up for sale. I won't enter the manual vs PDK debate[:)]. It's as if no Spyder owner on any forum is representative of the demographic[:)]. Some who have a manual car with buckets talk up the increased demand for their cars while the demographic owning these cars on forums are driving all variants. A collector may well want the brochure spec of manual and buckets, but at present, collectors are few and far between and for most owners it seems to be their only sports car and they sell it to get their next toy rather than keep it and buy more and more cars alongside it. Just my opinion of course. Will be interesting to see how it pans out.
Yep. How you getting on with the Turbo? Must be incredible right now with the sunshine and lots of cold air. Hope all's well.

Fresh SPYDER for sale [;)] http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201503041435457/sort/pricedesc/postcode/e95lw/usedcars/radius/1500/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/model/boxster/price-from/500/keywords/Spyder/page/1/make/porsche?logcode=p

I was going to say, thats the first white/bucket seats and spyder wheels i have seen for sale in a long time. Then i saw PDK :p It states sports exhaust but the tips are black? I thought the PSE is chrome looking? Strong money, mine is just under that in terms of miles but manual. Phil. PS. I do love the look of the Spyder..Hmmm maybe i shouldnt change. Its a very classic look in the making!

I knew an early taker of a Spyder May 2010 and first thing he did when he got the car was change the PSE tips for the standard black tips [;)]Maybe this guy has done the same too Shame it has PDK but no Sports Chrono![]

Arr i see!.. So my dilemma regarding the 981 Spyder is - 1. Keep my Spyder and have free motoring and probably a more raw, driver focus car. I cant see my Spyder ever going below what i actually paid for it. Plus the OPC did the major, all new dics/pads, new tires etc etc. 2. Change to the new 981 Spyder which will see me putting in X amount and the potential of loosing X straight away on the new car. If the new Spyder has the 3.4 engine and not 3.8 ( doubtful 3.8 ) then i'm wondering what is the point anyway. 3. Keep the Spyder and put the X amount into a new day to day car thats more lively!. Was looking at a 996 C4S or a 997 Gen.1 C4S etc. Not sure what other Spyderman are thinking about in there current situation and the 981 Spyder. Phil
