Nice video but definitely should have had a 987 Spyder starring in it http://hypebeast.com/2015/3/porsche-details-its-design-principles

ORIGINAL: MrDemon I do hope that shuts a few people up ;-)
You're the one that goes on about it ad nauseum, isn't it about time you shut up? ;-)
I just said my predictions, people disagree they come true ! you sold yours in a rising market, if one would have taken note to my ramblings one might have sold it for 50k :) 981 has electric roof, I am still the ONLY one saying this :)
No, I think it is electric too. The only thing I agree with you on. ;)

ORIGINAL: flat6 I paid under £40K for my 3K miler at 2 years old back in 2012. Spyder values are certainly doing well. Tyinsky has what was mine and it's great to see it on here. The Spyder certainly has a strong identity. It's a bit like the 987 consists of Boxster, Cayman and Spyder versions. How much would a current Spyder owner be prepared to pay for a 987 Spyder if they didn't own on, before deciding to opt for a 981 Spyder instead?

Almost a year now, or a little over. It was about this time last year you let my have your car and I'm still very pleased with it. No idea what the new one will cost but if the GTS is 54k before any options are added to it, I would guess at 58k, 65k with the basics added. So probably 45k for the original.

Price up your dream spec GT4 and then knock off £3k and I think that would be ball park guestimate of the cost of a 981 Spyder

My thoughts a nicely specd one is going to be £69k that's not including pccb or any frivolous extras

well if i were one of the lucky few to get a GT4 then i think it would come out close to 79K. if i am going to get a new car to spec myself then it has to be right for me

ORIGINAL: Tom 911Virgin I sold a 40,000 miles car a few years ago for £31,000. Nothing wrong with it. Good spec, just a few miles. For us that was the lowest we saw. Tom
Tom - Million $ question is what would you ask for that car in todays market [;)]

My estimation is the market has moved by +20-25% from the low point, depending how well you bought (if not first owner). In this case a price around £37-£38k wouldn't look out of line. That's my enthusiastic amateurs viewpoint, be interested to hear the experts :)

[8|]OMG don't want to think what you would have asked for my 5k mile manual today which went for circa £37k 13 months ago [:D]

i was really interested in your 5K car at 911 virgin. it all came down to spec. personal choice only but wanted buckets and Spyder wheels. don't want to start a buckets V chairs argument but I love the support that you get from buckets. I personally don't like the saloon car feeling of chairs. my opinion only as it really looked a super buy.

Saw this about New York on Bloomberg so looks promising for Wednesday. Quote One Last Secret ... Finally, Porsche will show for the first time a still-secret roadster it is describing as “radically high-performance.” So good they can’t even give us a teaser photo? Here’s hoping. Hannah Elliott is Bloomberg's car columnist. Unquote

It's getting interesting. I think the car just as it is, is what makes it special. Logic and practicality don't necessarily go hand in hand with exclusivity and desirability. I think if they make the next one with conveniences added back in such as an electric roof it will be less differentiated from the Boxster and an inconvenient choice for someone looking for convenience. The weight gain of a semi-electric roof i'm sure Porsche has it within them to keep to a not too significant minimum, but the story behind a car is part of what generates a level of desirability before you drive it. The 987 Spyder certainly has that.

I'm taking my 993S for service today at my local PC. I shall be looking very carefully for anything that is tucked away in a corner and covered up[;)]

for bigger Media at the USA show. It's all been GT4 and GT3 RS, launching the car at the New York show gives great press esp when no one knows about it.
