Deposit paid, order placed, awaiting build month
My current build month is now December 2015 still hoping to be able to drop back for a March/April 2016 build[&o]ORIGINAL: Andrew Killington Deposit paid, order placed, awaiting build month
All dates offered weren't user friendly dates for me [] September & October build so I went for their last slot December build in the hope before I have to spec the car they would know their 2016 allocation and could move me back for a Spring delivery I want to see the car in the flesh at PEC sometime in July which will allow me to chose the final spec very carefully but if the PEC car(s) don't have the Classic Spyder interior I will have to think long and hard before ticking that box blindly[]ORIGINAL: Boxster7 Yes agree, December is not the best month to take delivery of your new Spyder. I take it you'd have it held up in your garage until they've finished spraying salt on our lovely potholed roads [&o] I'm still waiting to hear what month they've got me down for, but as my OPC only have one car coming I'm hoping for an earlier date. If not I would take your approach. Cheers
Will be interesting to see how quickly that car sells. No aircon? Looks a very decent spec with carefully chosen options (and deletions!) if someone wants a genuine lightweight one. Porsche warranty too.ORIGINAL: DarrellWilson New Spyder to market http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/porsche/boxster-987-05-12/porsche-boxster-987-gen-ii-spyder-rare-purist-spec------------------2010/4013805
That dash looks too bland with the gaping holes IMO[&o]ORIGINAL: tyinsky Will be interesting to see how quickly that car sells. No aircon? Looks a very decent spec with carefully chosen options (and deletions!) if someone wants a genuine lightweight one. Porsche warranty too.
Would be interesting to hear Andrew K's take on that steering point as he has been a Spyder owner and currently a GTS owner When I drove the Boxster GTS with sport chassis I never once found the steering to be lacking - which either says a lot about the new steering or my lack of feel [] If Porsche can't make the new Spyder an all round better proposition to my current Spyder then that would not only mark a historic landslide in the wrong direction but would end my 36 year fling with the best brand £ for £ in the sports car world past & present if the test reviews are anything to go by[] As they say don't knock something until you have personally tried it http://www.caranddriver.com/porsche/cayman-gt4ORIGINAL: Boxster7 The extra power and handling will easily make up for the slight lack of steering feel. I'm hoping to keep both to start with, so I can enjoy the different experience each will bring.
ALL round better !, it weighs more, has a bad co2 figure(230 is lazy) a sub 20mpg real life figure, electric steering, electric hand brake, over served brakes, longer gearing, and a roof you still have to piss about with and now cannot take off. lets not even talk about NO 918 style seats and less paint options. all round worse on paper ! I'll be honest and say, I am getting a GT4 for the bling factor and making 10k, not for the drive, the looks, the bad mpg and the painfully long gearing. I am buying it because it's shiny and seems a no risk buy and I don't have to sell anything to get it. Be honest why are people buying the 981 Spyder ? I hand on heart think the 987.2 Spyder is the better more fun car and most bought at sub £40k what is £25k more buying you ? as I doubt it will be the last NA mid engine Porsche. I guess the 981 market is NOT for me while I keep looking at these for a laugh. And yet some people even think the 981 Spyder is too hardcore and are still buying normal Boxsters.ORIGINAL: daro911If Porsche can't make the new Spyder an all round better proposition to my current Spyder then that would not only mark a historic landslide in the wrong direction but would end my 36 year fling with the best brand £ for £ in the sports car world past & present if the test reviews are anything to go by[]ORIGINAL: Boxster7 The extra power and handling will easily make up for the slight lack of steering feel. It's a press car, same as MrD's - probably thrashed to within an inch of its life!ORIGINAL: tyinskyWill be interesting to see how quickly that car sells. No aircon? Some of us drive ours abroad in the sun - A/C is a godsend when you're driving in 34 degree temperatures!ORIGINAL: MrDemon You AC guys are crazy lol no one buys soft tops in sunny climates you notice you would burn your head ! , every one has coupes with AC on, the UK is the soft top mecca and we don't need AC here, you take the roof off !
Wouldn't rev range activity tell you if that's the case or not?ORIGINAL: homerdog It's a press car, same as MrD's - probably thrashed to within an inch of its life!
I'll give you £10K over if you want to sell. I fancy one and could turn a few quid on my GT3 which will help with the mortgage. GeoffI'll be honest and say, I am getting a GT4 for the bling factor and making 10k,
