Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

correct.

So here is my predicament.... Currently have a 987 BS 05, which I love [:)] Have funds available to buy new, but will only spend if I can buy something very special. Must be a soft top / mid engined / Manual /Porsche (that sounds like a Boxster or Spyder !) Really fancied the GTS, but also loved the idea of the 3.8 conversions that have been done in the states. Then we get the new Spyder launched. But alas don't see me finding a spare one now. Might there be a GT4 Spyder in the near future?? Or do I just wait and see how the new 4 cylinder comes out ? I'm sure it will be a fine motor with increased HP, but will it be as satisfying as the 6 cylinder engine / sound ? Any thoughts ?

If it's not a daily drive buy yourself a 987.2 Spyder for £45-£50k (and keep £20k in the bank) - it is a very special car, 6 cylinder sound/power, lightweight with fantastic handling and rock solid future values. I think all the coverage the 981 Spyder has got has brought more attention to the 987 and demand is increasing due to awareness and disappointed 981 prospective buyers. Seems that the 981 is oversubscribed many times for the quantities coming over the next 12 months and I can't see a GT4 version making sense to Porsche as they won't be able to put enough clear blue water between the standard Spyder and GT4 version without making it so hardcore that it has very very little appeal or it just doesn't work. If you want a more hardcore track/road car buy a Cayman GT4 or RS. Or alternatively sit tight and wait for the early 981's to hit the secondhand market but my guess is, in the unlikely event any come to market, they'll be fetching a premium to list in the short term due to such low production numbers versus demand.

Well it's not my daily drive, but I do drive it as much as possible. Any excuse, even on the Tesco run ! Although I really love the look of the 987.2 Spyder (and I know all you owners rave about them !), I don't think I can justify spending an extra 30K over my current BS. My car has the Carnewal GT exhaust and Sprint booster on it and is great fun. It's a ridiculous amount of car for tops 13K [:)][:)] One of the main reasons for taking the plunge and agreeing to spend the money was also to be able to option up the new car. Seats, Leather, stitching, paint etc.... So I'm thinking may be best to leave my deposit in place and see what happens next. In the meantime I will continue to rack up many fun miles in Old faithful [:D]

My day just got a whole lot better..... Been to see my local OPC to discuss options, and I've been told the new Spyder is mine [:)][:)][:)] So from disappointment to the options list in 5 mins !! What's the opinions on best colour ?? I'm a big carmine red fan, but not available at present for the Spyder. So it might have to be another Guards Red... Or is the classic white going to be the one ??? Also should the car have the Aircon and radio (will that decision effect re sale values later ?), I never use the Aircon on my BS as the roof or windows are always down ! Anyone already sorted their spec ? Happy days [:D]

Well done ......I like the GR as on my current 987 Spyder ...I would possibly go for White this time and go for the AC and Radio as they are a no cost anyway to add on ,forget all about this adding on weight talk ,I think most will add this as far as the rest spec do what you want and forget the next persons spec . The colour hoops are nice and defiantly buckets .

be a while to get the build date, you will get told which month slot, then you have to wait till the order is accepted at the factory and much later you get the build date.

Correct my error I meant build month [&o] I will be bu66ered if I can't get a 2016 build as my current October build really doesn't suit my future servicing MOT etc at all. Did you all read how well Porsche build the cars today[] http://www.mailonsunday.co.uk/money/cars/article-3039686/Honda-crowned-reliable-car-ninth-time-brand-loved-rich-famous-bottom-pile.html

Daily Mail ruining my day Looks like I'd better cancel the Spyder then and get me one of those reliable Honda Jazz [:D][:D] It's a shame cause I was looking forward to a few track days ! [:)]

ORIGINAL: geoff lane Hi Kitchens We are also down for 11.30 and then lunch next wednesday probably see you there. Geoff
Is this the Spirit of the Sportscar Driving Event ? If so, i have just done this today. I had the PDK Boxster then the Cayman GTS Manual, then the 911 GTS PDK. They have a new section now too, another high speed track with longer straights. Inside this track there is a 2 long straights where you can test the launch control and stopping power. Great day as usual at the PEC! Make sure you go and see the 918 under where you eat. Oh there is also a Porsche race sim in there too!
