Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

What's interesting is that last summer 911V sold a red, 35k mile car for £29,995 straight away. So they think a similar car has increased in value by £1k.... I don't think that will hang around long at all. ETA in fact I think it could be the same car?
Hi billy1 are you considering making a bid on the 911V bargain or are you the seller [;)] If anyone isn't put off by buying a nicely run in 35k miler this is a great piece of kit for the money today

Another low mileage example for sale today [;)] http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201303025582140/sort/pricedesc/usedcars/price-to/50000/price-from/30000/model/boxster/make/porsche/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/radius/1500/postcode/e95lw/page/1/keywords/spyder?logcode=p

ORIGINAL: flat6 Similarly to aqua blue, red is both rare and desirable on a Spyder and have sold quickly. MrDemon, have you still got yours and how are you getting on with it?
Yes I love it, sold my GT3 to keep the Spyder. I have had 50 cars and it,s the best all round fun car I have owned. Love driving it Just don't use it roof on as it not that nice then.
Hearing that with a CV like yours, I think i've struck gold in driving terms and I have to seriously consider it as a keeper. Yeah we all say that 'til something better comes along, but in the same price bracket what is there?
Absolutely nothing at all
Can't argue with that [;)]

S model with PDK, PASM, 20 inch alloys and a few other goodies. I cannot believe that Bolton OPC have been kind enough to lend me their 5 day old 100 miles "new addition to the fleet" as a courtesy car. It is very impressive.
After a few more hours back in yours, what do you miss about the 981? The one I drove was a manual, but after a short test drive in a 991 PDK, I think it'd only be the brilliant 2nd gen PDK that I would miss.

I see Henry has another high mileage offering: http://www.911virgin.com/porscheforsale/566/987Gen2BoxsterSpyder/ Good bargain for someone perhaps.

Are you tempted Nick?[;)] As you say it'll make a great bargain and the mileage might be above average for a Spyder, but nothing for the engine. As a weekend car the, average mileage will come down over a few years.

We don't do 'weekend' cars both our Porsche's are our daily drives. My wife's car is the only car we are going to swap out and that is morphing into a GT3/3RS or 997TT her choice, my orange machine is a 'keeper'. The red offering looks honest enough and much better than the white one I have seen with the black wrapped bits for a similar price....... very scary offering!!!! I am sure Henry wont have it long.

Thumbs up regarding the 997TT. If I could get my wife in one of those that'd be perfect for me[:)] Meanwhile, we have another OPC car and they are asking as much for earlier car as for a newer one. That's what we like to see. I suppose on such a short production run, age aint nothin but a number[:)] Wheels are painted in metallic. Haven't noticed that before. Nothing, the Spyder is miles better [:D] Anyone want to make me a bid for it before prices go through the roof? [:D][:D][:D] I did like the electric hood it must be said. I also prefer the look of the interior. I prefer the ride comfort but it all comes at a price. Dare I say I'd spec a manual box? I think PDK could lose me my licence. In a manual you have to make a conscious decision to keep accelerating, for example floor it in second, you can choose exactly when to change up to third, take your foot off the gas and make a conscious decision how hard to put your foot down again, repeat as required. In the PDK car floor it in second and it goes ballistic, drops it to 1st and it's barp, barp, barp, barp and you are speeding. The Spyder's noisy roof keeps me in check on motorways too.

Went for my 2nd take on the Cayman and catch up with some R5-ers, after catching up with some R18-ers the night before[:)] Cayman still looks good. It's baffling that the lower rear boot space seems shorter front to rear, even if the overall volume is said not to be any less. Sitting in the car and looking to the rear, it seemed bigger, longer behind there, than the old Cayman. But i'd need to check out the old one again to be sure. There was a nice white Cayman S Sport on display, owned by a customer. The 987 shape still looks good. That car is more the little rebel, than the bigger looking new one. But that's just it the new one looks bigger isn't. They're really clever these designers aren't they. Not great pics but, considering the sleek rear lights & tapered rear of the 991 vs the stylish spoiler-extending rear lights & funky pinched rear of the 981, which one wins 'rear of the year'? I think you can guess which way i'm edging and it's not what I thought i'd think before seeing them together in the metal. Without doubt, IMHO, the 'front of the month'[:D] and also the 'side of the times'[&:] goes to the Cayman though.

RE: Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPC's! - 14/10/2012 14:39:22    [/quote[8D]] The speed limit recommended with the roof up is 120mph,but Just thought I mention that speed art have brought out a hard top it is painted in black but they will match any colour,it is around £4.5k. Am not sure whether many owners will want to invest in this option. But it will enable Spyders to keep up on the autobahns with other Boxster's [:(]

Thanks acer. As much as i'm a coupe man, i've bought into the Spyder concept as an open car. The top is weather proof and I don't think many Spyder owners would go for the hard top for weather proofing. As for attaining the top speed I think most accept the car must be open (and they're the types that love it so). On a bad weather day we make do with 124mph. If I did buy a hard top, which I wouldn't, it would only be used in such poor weather conditions that I wouldn't want to be going 166mph and I wouldn't find 124mph a barrier either. I think that's why the hard top has not been very popular.

Wonder if this Spyder Forum [;)] had any influence with there wording :ROFLMAO: [link=http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/porsche/boxster-987-05-12/porsche-boxster-spyder-3-4/1154550]PORSCHE Boxster Spyder 3.4 (2010) [/link] [ul][*]Mileage: 5,520 [*]Fuel Type: Petrol [*]Power: 320 bhp [*]Transmission: Semi Automatic [/ul] A scarce vehicle in the Porsche network, this fantastic low mileage, one owner, Boxster Spyder ticks all the right boxes. 19" Carrera Sport Wheels, Floor mats, Guards Red Instrument Dials, Painted headlamp cleaning system cover, Sound Package ...

[8D]Flat6 Agree with you totally I think the Spyder looks great without the hardtop And the American video with the nice ladies I found v interesting! Last year at Classics at the Castle an RS60 was parked,I was really impressed with this car,one of the nicest paint finishes in silver seen! Only ever seen a Spyder in the flesh at Tonbridge Opc, I think it was around 2010,awesome in White and the car did have the black roof on. It didn't stay at the centre long and am pleased to view one in the flesh, Great rare car.

ORIGINAL: daro911 Along with the fact it looks fugly and painted to match or even in the black costs a fortune!
That and you can't open the rear boot when it's fitted! Flat6, I am apalled - getting a second view of the Cayman indeed. Have you got tickets for Chester or Leeds, I may need a second view of champagne and totty too [:D]

Thanks acer. I feel pretty lucky to have chosen this direction on only my 2nd Porsche. It just seemed like it would tick a number of boxes for longer and has so far proven to be the case. Then I hear from people who've gone from GT3 and enjoy Spyder (not saying the Spyder is an open GT3) makes me realise i'd have to think long & hard what would give the same thrills. It's easier just to keep it I think[:)] Rob, I do have an invitation from Leeds but 2 takes will do[:)] On departing Wilmslow were given a 2 week free pass by a local Spa & golf club inc a round of golf & a training session. Result![8D]

And rear of the year has to go to 991 IMHO. It's simpler and yet more distinctive IMO. I didn't expect to think that. Also, with the 918 Spyder and Panamera Sport Turismo Concept following a similar theme, it is more likely to be the Porsche signature rear styling. Maybe a hint at what to expect on the 982 in the future.
