Just a thought has anyone contemplated getting the black and silver bits on there cars ..colour coded or would this devalue the car as non standard and compromise or nil in void the warranty. Have seen a few Boxsters with it done ,also the new 981 i prefer the look of the 2.7 as the front grills are colour matched to the car whereas the 3.4 are black grills . Brian

Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

P.S. Don't forget that buyers & OPC optioned some of these cars up unnecessarily. A few pages back we looked at what essentials people would option onto their Spyder. It already comes with the best seats, wheels and an LSD etc. The radio is free. It's the additional comfort/cosmetic options that can be applied to any boxster that have created Spyders with these high tags.ORIGINAL: kitchens I have the original invoice for the car when first advertised at the dealership it was £54600 it was agreed when they first came out they where too expensive .
Not so long ago on this Fred I mentioned why I liked the Black cars. Main reason for me was the fact that the rear defuser and the side inlets did not show ( they are black) and don't stand out as they do on other colour Spyders. I don't intEnd to have mine done but would be interested to see any that had been.. This does not only apply to a porsche go buy a red silver or white VW, Honda or whatever the same will apply. .ORIGINAL: kitchens Just a thought has anyone contemplated getting the black and silver bits on there cars ..colour coded or would this devalue the car as non standard and compromise or nil in void the warranty. I am a stickler for only factory options on a Porsche especially a potential future classic Porsche You could always wrap the bits and the original finish would still be there should the concept not work for you or the next owner In the meantime I have found another PTS []ORIGINAL: kitchens Just a thought has anyone contemplated getting the black and silver bits on there cars ..colour coded or would this devalue the car as non standard and compromise or nil in void the warranty. [8D] Hi Brian,am very impressed with the new car you have bought. I always regarded your 356 as one of the best and loved the wheels and the silver very well looked after! With the red Spyder it's a great colour and I have red Alfa 145 as my daily car, with the colour red I personally found it a positive colour and it does make me feel great every time I get in the car it's something you look forward to and brings a smile on my face. The only thing have found with red you are more noticeable and other cars do seem to follow your boot badge a bit closer so make me more aware who is driving behind me. You have had quite a few Porsches over the recent years am impressed! I have only one at moment the 2002 Boxster S,drove about 105 miles today and weather was slightly dull here but no rain and quite dry roads. Am loving the heater at 26c with it about 2.5c outside, great day! Wishing you some warmer weather up there asap.
Acer Many thanks for your kind comments .Yes the wee 356 will always be a bit special it really was one of a kind and lets hope the Spyder gets the same nice comments . I wish i was the kind of person who could keep a car for years and years always admired some people who you meet at shows and say they have had the cars for 20+ years . In my 50 years of driving yes i am that old i must have had in excess of 150 cars some company rep mobiles in that tally . If only i had stuck to a few i would have been a Multi Millionaire instead of just a Millionaire by now []. Would i do it all over again....you bet i would Brian Darro 911 thanks for the link

Hi Brian I guess we all have different opinions but to answer your question about contemplating it, then the answer for myself is no. If you painted the silver surrounds body colour you may has well have a standard boxster front apron IMO. I can understand the idea of painting black plastic but there has been some chatter about that over here and I don't think the look would gain from having everything in the same colour. Well, certainly with white, I think black accents works well. http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=750723&mpage=3 Looking at the front of your car, I don't personally think the look would gain from having every element in red. I also with daro in that i'm not one for straying from the factory look and I personally wouldn't touch a car that had extra bits painted. John's point about choosing a black car if you want that look is a valid one because you get the 'one colour' look without affecting the car's desirability or value by modding. If Porsche had offered to paint the rear diffuser, I think that would be welcomed, but the front looks fine IMHO.ORIGINAL: kitchens Just a thought has anyone contemplated getting the black and silver bits on there cars ..colour coded or would this devalue the car as non standard and compromise or nil in void the warranty. Daro If as you say you leave the car open do you keep the two part 'hood' under the bonnet? YES I leave the 2 roof parts in the hood well and that is where they stay 24/7. Over Christmas I fitted the Suncap on too make sure leaving it off for nearly 2 years wasn't going to cause a problem with the fit etc. Pleased to report no use had no bad affects on fit or finish and I left it up for a few journeys for a new experience but first sight of the winter sun had it back off and that is where I am sure it will remain I have literally a 30 seconds solution for days where the weather gods may have tricked me into thinking it will remain dry all day and then a shower cloud looks like it may appear []ORIGINAL: jdpef356 Daro If as you say you leave the car open do you keep the two part 'hood' under the bonnet?
