Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Boxster7 said:
Heard today that my build date is set for Nov 10th !!

My OPC initially had 2 cars, mine was meant to be 1st for an Oct build, but got pushed back due to GT2 bucket shortage.

The other car with 18 ways has just arrived in store....

Going forward the OPC has been allocated 1 more car for Jan build, but they are sure that's it. So just 3 cars at this dealer [:D]
Great news and all in time for Christmas or New Years Day if you can wait that long [;)]

Good to hear your dealer is only getting one extra car so if that was across the board one extra car to all dealers the numbers sound to be circa 150+ cars

Have you settled on a colour? I think that blue would be a very good choice. White kind of 'belongs' to the 987 imho, so maybe works to deviate from it. But most importantly, get what you like. Haven't seen a bad colour on the Spyder or GT4.

That's the way my red one is speced....

Much fretting about it, but loving seeing these red cars being delivered now.

loud and proud [:)]

Called at local PC today to figure out in my own mind how rare Spyders are likely to be. Bear in mind at Althorp in August I was told that they were all sold although Porsche might build some more for the 2016 model year and that I found it difficult to find a PC that would accept my deposit at that time. Today the sales executive said that if I wanted a Spyder, I should put down a deposit as although they were unclear of their allocation for 2016, Porsche were likely to continue to build Spyders into next year at least until the turbo engined Boxstes and Caymans come along. My impression was that this was regarded by the dealer network as a mainstream model, albeit not a high volume one, but unlike the 550 Spyder and RS60 Spyder would not have finite production numbers.

I was rather disappointed with this as I thought I was buying a rare model with restricted production numbers which would help to reduce the inevitable depreciation. Now it seems that rarity might not be what I thought it would be and that values might not hold up as hoped.

The Red does really look good, this one could do with colour coding the rollover bar!

GT silver also great and quite unique.

GT Silver [;)]
Have to say, Porsche got the look of this car just right. It's got some serious presence.

Aurally, whilst i'm undecided on sports exhausts, I would enjoy emitting that noise!

It was never sold as anything else; it is a limited production model, as was the 987 Spyder. It will be rare and it's likely that the price will hold up as a result.

How can anyone be disappointed by a mid engined Boxster with a 3.8L 375 bhp flat six right behind ones head [&:]

As far numbers go there won't be any where near as many as 987 Spyders and how often do you come across one of those on your travels[;)]

Yet to read a disappointing review and as far as the sound track goes its right up there with the best of the rest that cost tens of thousands more
