Mine had 9 miles upon collection. Dread to think what mine is like underneath at the moment, did 100 mile round trip on salt infested roads on Wednesday night. Was hoping to give it a good clean this morning but rain has been constant.
Thanks Clewsey. I must get around to trying mine out. You have one of my favourite 997's - GTS, turbo & GT2[]ORIGINAL: ClewseyDial illuminates, nice glow. I hardly use it myself so it's nice that it at least provides some value at night! Whilst trivial really, I regret not having done this previously in my previous car!ORIGINAL: flat6 Haven't ever used mine yet. Clewsey, does the dial illuminate, or is it just the digital display in the middle?
4900 miles []ORIGINAL: jdpef356 Note those white boys are not so keen to show us there bottoms![]
Excellent standard of workmanship especially as your Spyder sees some weather action unlike my gargae queen ... Impressed Mr RORIGINAL: rob.kellockIf you look carefully, you can see the brake discs rusting before your very eyes!
Hard to tell from the pic but you may have to check the tread on the inner edge of your rear tyre Rob. I'd rather say than not say and hopefully i'm wrong. Mine are due for a check too come to think of it[8|]ORIGINAL: rob.kellock14500 miles mind! I have just spent 4 hours cleaning the visible parts of my car. Had i known pictures of the underneath were required i'd have maybe sprayed the hose in that direction too! It has been washed, dried, polished, waxed, wheels waxed, tyres dressed, vacuumed and that's after I washed the rest of the fleet. The dilemma is, do I take it for a spin to dry the brakes thus undoing my hard work as the roads are still damp or do I put it away and hope its dry tomorrow?
It's just a funny angle I think, the bald bit is the sidewall! Thanks Rob, I find it quite rewarding - brand new Microfibres helped that I picked up a couple of weeks ago.
+ One[] Nice work! But don't give the day job up just yet Rob[]ORIGINAL: daro911Excellent standard of workmanship especially as your Spyder sees some weather action unlike my gargae queen ... Thanks flat6 - loving the GTS right now, could be a keeper for me but then I said that last time I swapped! []ORIGINAL: flat6Thanks Clewsey. I must get around to trying mine out. Thanks John. Day job was paying whilst I worked - just had my agent on and she has done 7 jobs for me today with 2 in the cells ready for Court on Monday morning! I do like my Italian shoplifters!
Was at the launch of the Cayman the other night and was speaking with the service manager and he said they get more rusty disc problems with people who just wash and leave them to dry . He insisted that unless you completely brake dry before putting your car away you will have big problems especially the inside part of the disc as water lies in the drilled holes and travel to the back and rusts ,it is there biggest complaint from customers . Annoying i know ,clean the car off after a run and nice and clean then drive round the block to dry the disc and you end up with dirty rims again .
You gotta put a couple of pics up for us[]ORIGINAL: Clewsey Thanks flat6 - loving the GTS right now, could be a keeper for me but then I said that last time I swapped! []
Am afraid I went with Rob's advice this afternoon! You are completely right though, I learned the hard way when I first got my 996. Annoyingly it had pretty much dried out by 7pm and it is bucketing down again now. Will clean them off tomorrow for sure.ORIGINAL: kitchens Was at the launch of the Cayman the other night and was speaking with the service manager and he said they get more rusty disc problems with people who just wash and leave them to dry . Are you guys jet spraying the wheels? I just use a bucket and sponge and have never had the need to drive around the block on this or any previous Porsche [&o]ORIGINAL: rob.kellockAm afraid I went with Rob's advice this afternoon! Good, i'm glad[] Speaking of wear, I have about 4mm left on my front brake pads. I'd like to get through the track day and then change them, rather than subjecting my new pads to track work. Not that I expect the track work to do anything to the new pads, but i'd rather put the work through the old set. Does anyone know what is considered a low pad depth and at what pad depth does the indicator come on to tell you your pads are low? Do you think I have enough left for the track day at Angelsey?ORIGINAL: rob.kellock It's just a funny angle I think, the bald bit is the sidewall!
