Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

MrDemon said:
and here you were taking the wee wee a little in the top line ;-) "The most desirable possible specification you can get according to some folk" !!!

but it sold quick enough with no radio ;-)

Not quite that simple Mr D - At £43995 the phone never rang but with the price dropped to below £40k for a low mileage minter and a radio can easily be retro fitted be it the factory or after market with built in sat nav it was too good a price not to sell

Only 7 987/2 Spyders for sale now on PH and 2 of those are almost £50k OPC cars. Even the Martini car I had that was for sale at redline isn't there any more.

Could be this be the turn arround now for this desireable model, is this the time to get one before the prices go silly?

It might be the Silverstone Classic Festival Weekend but it was very much a Porsche fest too [8D]

Well done to all Porsche Clubs hard working team for organising a fantastic display of cars and excellent resting and recharging facilities too

Met up with my previous Spyder which is still doing the beauty shows and hopefully will have another win to its name by this time tomorrow - Good luck Dave

My cars first car club meet and 142 enjoyable round trip miles running her in[:D]

Superb Robert, what time did you have to arrive for infield parking?

going tomorrow
Hi Andrew got there at about 9.20 but then last mile before coming off for Silverstone was grid locked and didn't get into the infield and parked up until about 10.10 []

Go as early as you can there was so much to see and impossible to do in just one day

Whilst at Silverstone on Saturday, I had 2 people come up to chat whilst I was getting something out of the car. Both were looking to get themselves a 987 Spyder, so I'd say there is some demand out there at the moment. Whether that's enough to drive prices up, who knows? At the end of the day, I can't see prices going "silly" to the extent that you could sell and get something "better" for the same amount.

Hi

To all Spydermen past and present

Great catching up with you all at the classic saw 6 x 987 3 x 981 throughout the weekend .

Always thought my 987 was special as being one of only two in Scotland and low and behold three red ones within 50ft of the main display .

It was a great weekend never seen so many Porsches must have been over 1200 on the Saturday alone .

The parade lap was great a bit of waiting about but well worth it for to say you have driven round Silverstone . I have never spoken to so many people about the Spyder as it attracted a great deal of interest and the Evolution display was a great attraction as it was in front of the main Porsche marquee

Please to see the new owner of my ex concours winning Spyder is continuing the tradition with a well deserved 3rd Place on Sunday making it a hat-trick of 3rds to date

Well done Dave fingers crossed for even more success in 2017 - No pressure :ROFLMAO:

Found this on GT4 - proably better news for 981 Spyder owners since a lot fewer cars produced than the GT4[;)]

Just seen this on depreciation [link=https://www.motoringresearch.com/car-news/features/25-slowest-depreciating-cars]https://www.motoringresearch.com/car-news/features/25-slowest-depreciating-cars[/link] However, 'proper' owners/enthusiast will know that the real investments is two way, top of these two is the ownership and driving their cars.

You forgot cleaning and polishing :ROFLMAO: plus that article must have been written a while back as the 4C at Silverstone auction last weekend scrapped up a low £39375! including all premiums []

also people add £15k options which is not taken into account as they ALWAYS quote list price !!

so pointless figures all told.

Well Done Dave !!

Nice catching up with you over the weekend, looks like it's lots more cleaning and polishing for you now [:D][:D]

Enjoy

Was a great club event at Silverstone classic. Porsche was by far the most represented. Well done to the club to attract such a turn out and the Club facilities laid on including grandstand. Was good to catch up with old acquaintances and see many more Spyders than when I took mine in 2013. Also was a great event overall, admiring cars, watching racing, taking in the off track entertainment, being inside the pit garages and catching up with friends. Will definitely go again.

Out of interest, did anyone check out the Jaguar Project 7 F Type?

I had a nosey at the rear panel that seals in the "shower cap" roof. It was similar in concept to the 987 solution, but have to say the quality was pretty dire! And that on a car that listed at twice as much as the Spyder.

WOW !!!!!!! My little beauty of a Spyder (Daro911's ex) achieved 3rd place in the national PCGB concours at the Silverstone Classic on Sunday :ROFLMAO:. Thank you to all, who have offered their congrats. I had spent 3 long weeks of every non-working hour that I was awake detailing her and she looked stunning. However, I live as far south as you can go in Sussex without getting your feet wet and during the 145 mile drive up to Silverstone in my gleaming-like-new Spyder on Friday late afternoon, my friend and I experienced the M25 in a 3 minute light rain shower. Driving only on the "dry lines", I thought it shouldn't affect her too much. Robert (Daro911), had told me that in the years that he was the car's custodian, it had never been on a damp road, let alone in any rain .... Little did my friend and I know that I was to be "mentally tortured" when we got to within 45 minutes of the Silverstone circuit, because it was then that the heavens opened up and really heavy rain continued right up to the point that we parked in the Silverstone Snoozebox Hotel's grass car park [] ! AHHHHHHHH, flip and blow it (or words to that effect) ! On braving an early rise on Saturday morning, we saw the car in good light and drove up to the M&S petrol station 5 miles up the road and used their jet wash to remove the major soiling. So, it was then back to the Silverstone PCGB Concours site, to commence a full day's hard graft for both my friend and I, . There was some really exceptional competition there and one of the other entrants even leant me his jack, so I could clean the inner wheel arches properly - what a diamond chap!. I was amazed by the sheer number of genuinely interested and friendly people that came over to us to chat about the car (and others). What a Weekend it was - fabulous and extremely well organised. A really big thank you to Silverstone, but a very especial thank you to the PCGB for the very professional set up........ and of course, a resounding thank you to Swissvax for selling me the special wax for white Porsche paint and the Lotus Speed detailer spray, which certainly finished the car off with a magical sparkle. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see much racing !! Looking forward to the 2017 PCGB National Concours (I think !) Regards to all, Dave
