Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Thanks for the summary and comparison of 987 / 981 Brian. Nice to hear there are some plus points to the old car which had a hard time justifying it's roof at launch.

Lol thanks. He'd happily settle for a paid drive as a Porsche works team driver :)

Trying my best to keep his progress updated at [link=http://mauricehenry.com]http://mauricehenry.com[/link]

Hi Flat6

All the best for this season.

Spydermen it took just 7 years and we have a £55k Spyder for sale in 2017[8D]

How long before it surpasses the 981![]

987 Spyder 3.4. 6 speed manual transmission. First registered 14/12/2011 (2012 model year by chassis 'C'). Finished in Carrara White with Black leather lightweight carbon backed / folding bucket seats. Supplied originally by Porsche Centre Sheffield. 2 former keepers. Porsche Main Agent service history from new with servicing carried out at the following intervals :-

09/10/2013 at 2133 miles (Porsche Centre Colchester)

16/11/2015 at 4014 miles (Porsche Centre Leicester

Next service due 16/11/2017 or at 24014 miles which ever comes first.

Without doubt the finest first generation Spyder we've seen. Indistinguishable from new and in flawless / Concours condition. Given the mileage, said condition and the car arguably having the perfect specification we can't see another example getting anywhere close. On reflection this is probably the cleanest car of any type we've offered for sale, ever !

Unmarked 19" RS Spyder alloys (Black centre / silver circumference), Lightweight Carbon Backed Bucket Seats, PSE (Porsche Switchable Sports Exhaust), Sports Chrono Package Plus, Climate Controlled air conditioning, Factory fitted short shifter, PCM 3.0 touchscreen Satellite Navigation, Bluetooth telpehone preparation and Universal Audio Interface. Sound Package Plus, Chronometer in Carrara White, rear park assist, Alcantara interior package, roll over bars in Carrara White, electric windows, electric mirrors, ABS, power steering, remote central locking and Thatcham Category 1 alarm / immobiliser.

Original bill of sale, fully invoice supported service history, all MOT certificates, x2 keys and no Rev Range incursions recorded past the limiter.

Detailed images to follow.

4,300 recorded miles.

[h2]£54,995[/h2]

we have had one at that price, the JZM one which just sold.

with 100 manual cars, maybe less as they keep leaving the UK, price will be £60k soon.

I think that one should have been £60k as it sold in 7 minutes![8D]

And no doubt go into storage ... at that price it is getting very close to list in 2011/12 We may well see a £60K car this summer lets hope so .

Being a driver rather than a collector, averaging 800 miles a year seems very strange !!

Nice piece of artwork for the garage though [:D]

Sold it nearly 2 years ago with c3800 miles on the clock and I can vouch for it being well looked after!

i paid less than that when I bought it new but it's list was close to £60k!

Drove my mate's high miles 987 Spyder yesterday. 70 odd k miles, former daily driver, warts and all, but still a really nice car: strong engine, nice manual box, good brakes with the GT3 mod. Easy to drive quickly but still fun. Needs tyres and a geo but still a good car. I'm 6.0 foot tall but had headroom to spare and not that noisy. I can easily see the appeal, especially at £32k.

Hope this doesn't mean N/A engines are for GT cars only and future Spyders will be a flat 4[]

[h1]Next Porsche Cayman GT4 to stick with naturally aspirated flat six[/h1] The new Cayman GT4 is expected to be powerful enough to wear the RS badge; manual and automatic gearbox options mooted

[/link] by [link=https://www.autocar.co.uk/users/mike-duff]Mike Duff[/link] 9 May 2017 The forthcoming successor to the original[link=https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/porsche/cayman-gt4-2015-2016] Cayman GT4[/link] will stick with a naturally aspirated flat six engine despite the arrival of a turbocharged flat four in the [link=https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/porsche/718-cayman]Porsche 718 Cayman[/link].

The engine is expected to be a detuned version of the new [link=https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/porsche/911-gt3-2013-2016]911 GT3[/link]’s 4.0-litre flat six.

“Natural aspiration is one of our main USPs,” said Andreas Preuninger, head of GT car development at Porsche.

“At Motorsport, we think we can achieve throttle response and immediacy a little bit better with an atmospheric highrevving engine than any kind of turbo.” He also confirmed there are no plans to create any four-cylinder GT cars.

Autocar has speculated that the next Cayman GT4 will be powerful enough to wear the RS badge, reserved for Porsche’s most hardcore models, and Preuninger dropped a broad hint that it will come with both manual and PDK gearbox options.

“The aim is to always have the choice,” he said. “Now we’ve started with that strategy with the GT3, let’s hope that it pays off.”

Preuninger also said Porsche will crack down on speculators who buy GT cars to flip for a profit rather than to drive. “If you do it, you won’t get the next car,” he said :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Andrew If its dry its Spyder weather in my world :ROFLMAO:

What engine do you think the next Spyder will be getting

I hope it's a 6, a 4 pot turbo wouldn't really appeal to me as it would have lost 1 of its USP's.

If it remains a 6 it becomes, as a non GT car , way out of kilter with the rest of the Box range, which on the face of it seems an odd thing to do.

could it evolve into a niche model?

the 718 GTS is going to be a rapid car so where do Porsche go?

is there any point to the Spyder if it's a different styled 718 / 4 ?

Andrew 718 Spyder with a GT engine would be definitely going against the current mantra :ROFLMAO:

In the meantime look what has happened to the Spyder residuals[8D]
