going by chassis number and model year 2012 (C) its one of the last batch built.owned from new or rather pre registered by opc with 4 miles on the clock.it is white with spyder black wheels has buckets, aircon and radio put back in so not a true lightweight(15kg added back in)!manual gearbox with a short shift, pse ,sport chrono(white clock)psm, phone, sound, usb and also has parking sensors rear.the roll over bars are white and has the alcantara steering wheel, handbrake and gearlever. these are the options that come with the car as it was a stock car,the only thing i would have liked is the xenons!
Welcome onboard your car sounds like a very nice light example and as you say a very late one too What is the mileage now if you don't mind sharing And as it's a new page here is a picture to keep the ball rolling []ORIGINAL: spyderwhite going by chassis number and model year 2012 (C) its one of the last batch built.owned from new or rather pre registered by opc with 4 miles on the clock.it is white with spyder black wheels has buckets, aircon and radio put back in so not a true lightweight(15kg added back in)!manual gearbox with a short shift, pse ,sport chrono(white clock)psm, phone, sound, usb and also has parking sensors rear.the roll over bars are white and has the alcantara steering wheel, handbrake and gearlever. these are the options that come with the car as it was a stock car,the only thing i would have liked is the xenons!
That sounds lovely. White ones are fastest - meet flat6 in the Welsh mountains and he'll happily demonstrate this!

I'm quite impressed with the Sound Package plus. Very bassy and I can't say i'm missing any base from the Bose system with sub-woofer that was in my Cayman. I was pleased but surprised about that. Perhaps if I tested them side by side i'd notice a small difference but apart, they seem pretty much the same. Yeah sounds like a lot of hassle to remove it but as you don't get any car information through the standard radio, like PCM - trip computer etc (or do you?) i'm surprised it's so hard to remove. What you need is to do is swap to a Cayman R or Spyder instead []ORIGINAL: John HI consider the basic radio in my Cayman utterly useless, and I rarely use it. I was going to buy one of the Spyder blanking plates (as per that photo) and take the radio out, until my OPC informed me that if I did, the car would have to be reprogrammed. Because the bus wiring "knows" what components are installed, remove one and you have to teach the car to re-configure itself, and even they weren't too sure of the process, never having done it before. I eventually decided it was more bother than its worth, shame cos I fancied doing it.ORIGINAL: flat6Indeed John. I sometimes wonder if I could live without a radio. Maybe I could if it wasn't my daily driver[8|].ORIGINAL: John H A PROPER Spyder too, with the radio deleted. []

Rob, i'm trying to conserve my brand new front pads - I think Angelsey is the only hard work that they will see for a while [] Welcome onboard spyderwhite. I'll have to do another roll-up to help newcomers through a summary of the last 95 pages[] As daro eluded to, there is a small membership fee to join the inner-sanctum of the PCGB forum that is the Spyder forum. The price is a picture of your car for us that can't seem to get enough [] Those that don't have a Spyder, don't worry, guest membership is free as we are trying to convert you[]ORIGINAL: rob.kellock That sounds lovely. We have another OPC car. Unusual in that it has the turbo wheel option. I get the impression talking from to OPC's that they are sourcing these cars as they are in demand.

Sorry those wheels do nothing for me [:'(]that is one reason i would not have a turbo IMPO they look wrong and chav looking again just my opinion .. .Glad to see prices are holding up .. and come the summer hopefully demand will increase for this model and keep values up . Brian

£42k for a car with the wrong wheels and seats imho spyders should have the spyder wheels and buckets. its like buying a 911 sport classic with carrera S wheels or a 2.7rs with aftermarket rims
£42k for a very late registered low mileage example from an OPC isn't a bad price IMO although I would insist on a wheel switch as part of the deal Now whilst I REALLY wanted the carbon buckets my car had the heated seats but compensated for by having my other must have options full leather and PSE. When I was considering brand new for a while all investigations by me said the seats are 50/50 for or against the carbon buckets but like myself who really wanted them finding a car without wasn't a deal breaker where as anyone not wanting them will not take a car that has them at any price. They are definitely a marmite thing I think in decades to come the carbon buckets will always be the number 1 choice but with the split probably being less than 50% with them I think cars without will still find homes [&o]ORIGINAL: spyderwhite £42k for a car with the wrong wheels and seats imho spyders should have the spyder wheels and buckets. its like buying a 911 sport classic with carrera S wheels or a 2.7rs with aftermarket rims

agree on the seats but the wheels should be the original. £42k for wrong wheels (spyder wheels are circa £1000 a corner)no pse and late 2011 model year(built circa march 2011) so a good spec late build low mileage car got to be worth in excess of £45k which is more than some new cars were trading back in december 2011 for example was interested in a red late 2011 model year chassis number with sports seats similar to that car but with spyder wheels for £42k with delivery miles. so spyders have risen in value already!!!!!
You just have to check the Porsche Used Car Locator and see how many 981's and 981S's are on the market today after only 10 months UK production to see it won't be very long when the choice will be used Spyder or used 981 S for similar money [] if the Spyder depreciation remains like the past 12 months have doneORIGINAL: spyderwhite so spyders have risen in value already!!!!!

imho the 981s will always be less sort after than a spyder as its not unique so price will fall below the spyder sooner rather than later. and i think production numbers have already exceeded all years put together of the 987.2s.when thinking long term future values of the spyder i think a 1989 speedster is a good comparison ie similar production numbers plus unique body etc.
They are similar money already! []The wheels are not to my liking either and to think that Porsche's lightest wheels - the Spyder wheels, came as standard, why oh why would someone want to option them out[&:] The turbo wheel has been around a long time, from gen1 997/987, and so whilst it was no doubt considered pretty revelutionary back then, being forged and two tone, it does look a little odd on a newer car. (I'd still take them on a gen 1 car and they look good to me on a Cayman S Design Edition 1 or a 997.1 turbo).
Being forged rather than cast, there's every chance they are the second lightest behind the Spyder wheel, but I haven't checked. From a dealer perspective, they aren't going to value the car based on the wheels though. A car that has 4 Porsche alloys will pass the 111 point check and is ready for sale. As daro said, you can get the OPC to swap wheels. There are many a boxster S, Cayman S or Cayman R on Spyder wheels so there's a good chance they'll have some they can access to swap. That's what I did as my car was the ideal spec but was riding on turbo II wheels and I insisted that it WAS a deal breaker. As for the prices we are seeing vs age, remember that these cars were made for around 18 months, so as time goes by, they are all roughly the same age and mileage is probably a more influential factor than when it was manufactured or registered. I've seen a car registered in 2012 but no doubt it was manufactured in mid 2011. Last year I saw nearly new cars at OPC's move from £45K to £42K before they sold. Now, these not so new, not so low mileage cars are being offered for the same £42K (and earlier cars aren't too behind on price, which is about right really - how much different is 1 year expected to make, especially the way OPC's come up with their prices). I agree with daro about the seats. The buckets are more in keeping with the ethos of the car (and also a key contributor in the headline 80kg weight saving) but ones with sports seats will still find homes. I dread to think how much weight has been added into my full fat example. But then again, PEC driving instructors told Daro that they can't feel the difference, so I doubt I would either. I personally have to welcome the sports seat option as I would not be owning a Spyder today given that I needed to install a child seat. I'm not overweight, so I compensate for the seats[]. So, my car is perfect in my eyes[]
Times are very tough I know but how much did they buy that car in for [] OK off at 7.30am for a recall, clutch switch change and first MOT while I wait and pleased to report that the morning has dawned bright and very sunny but 0' .... Nice bright day and forecast good for rest of day - enjoy your drive Daro. I may even hit the road today!
Just back to the seats and options. I expect if we had the chance to spec a new Spyder we would have everthing we wanted. Although it would be easy to miss something like PSE and then regret it.[] When looking for second hand cars including Spyders I set a list of must haves, and a second list of nice to have. Many of you who followed the thread will know that Red, Manual,PSE and Sports heated seats was on my must have list. Of course I had to wait a while before a car turned up with these options. In fact I was not going to settle for less so I could still have been waiting now![] I am not an impulse buyer of anything and that includes cars. I would far rather wait than look out of the window and think 'I wish I had waited for one with' []
