To dam true the years fly past to quickly [] Come Feb 2019 will have had the 987 6 years and like most on here there 981 Spyder will be 3 year old in 2019 , some are already 3 year old . As said some much speculation as to what the new one will and wont have...time will tell .The vid on the new 992 interior looks nice but will the new 718/982 have the same interior ? one comment on the PDK shift said it looks like an electric shaver ,have to agree.

Taking from another forum it was mentioned that the 718 GT4/Spyders F6 will not sound as good as the 981's due to latest EU regs and the sound quietening GPF devices []

Currently with no PTS and this latest posting not to mention the dreaded B & C words (think politics[:D]) my interest is waning fast

Off PH Forums "I don’t think the new GT4 / Spyder are going to be as raucous as before from what I’ve been told. Walliser said that to me and due to apparent new note stringent EU noise regs."

Rob,

I think it's inevitable that, coupled with increasingly stringent noise regulations, adding an extra couple of 'boxes' in the exhaust system is bound to have an effect on flow and exhaust note, but judging by the sounds from YouTube videos it's still unlikely to be a quiet car..!

Given the somewhat dubious nature and quality of these recordings, I think it best to wait and see what transpires when the cars appear in the flesh - eventually. One positive aspect for those who track their cars is that probably they're less likely to fall foul of the ever more restrictive noise restrictions. And also you're less likely to incur the wrath of near neighbours when you fire it up for an early morning Sunday drive too..!

On this freezing cold weekend something to warm Spydermen up especially if you have moth balled your car until winters past us by [8D]

Great vid, you can feel the enthusiasm of the driver from the comfort of your arm chair at home!

We did many of these roads on our WOTY which was Porsches on the Prom at Llandudno.

That weekend coincided with the start of the cracking summer [8D]

Nice videos Rob! I really miss mine, but I have registered for the Taycan and looking forward to the first electric Spyder... Time to embrace the future and put combustion engines into museums, alongside steam engines ;)

Yeah, will be great, wafting along, listening to the tyre noise . . 😂.

Excellent vid ..his comments on the Chassis /Steering being better on the 718 GTS where interesting.

or rubbish lol the 718 has the same set up as the 981 Spyder ! what the 718 does have is better tyres on it though.

in fact the 981 Spyder is more 718 than 981.

if you want steering feel you have to buy the 987.2 Spyder it's that simple.

Another 718 variant that makes little sense to me [&:]

Spyder launch must be the final roll of the 718 cash cow dice come Geneva showtime 2019

It has a lot to do with WLTP. It's much quicker and easier for manufacturers to get a package through the tests rather than have to verify individual options, although they'll gradually do that over time when the backlog clears.

Despite its detractors, T branding the mid-engine cars is a logical step for Porsche; and in step with the 911 offerings.

But Jeff what happens if we get the Panamera T - Cayenne T - Macan T []

All the best to you Robert and all Spyder owners past and present ….. Hope 2019 brings health and happiness to all ...and a new 718 Spyder ! [:)]

Am I alone in being a 981 Spyder owner who is hoping that any 718 Spyder is a turbo-flat4? That would leave my car as the last of the manual, N/A flat 6's

What I hope for is that Porsche dealers do more to discourage flipping, although their fiscal priorities mean that they probably encourage it

I would say you only want that so the value is kept in the car you own, as any Flat 6 new Spyder will be better than the outgoing model and thus will effect 2nd hand values by £10 to £20k.

That’s right 😀
