Hi Jeff I did caveat my post with "fashionable fake news" which according to that PH post would confirm my suspicion may have some foundation after all hence the question being posted on here to hopefully disprove what I had been emailed
I do cruise the PH forums but not as diligently or often as I possibly should[]
Hi Jeff just had an email from another dealer getting his first Spyder end of October - London Porsche dealers seem to have drunk the same coolade as our politicians [&:]Motorhead said:I'm surprised you should say that Rob. Welcome back flat6 been a while since we heard from you and I found a few screenshots from back in the early years what a mint low mileage example could be bought for []flat6 said:Wow 7 years since Rob started this plucky following for a car that was shunned by many who wanted to have one based but on the looks but couldn't get their head around the roof being rudimentary and serving only to keep the rain (not wind) out. But the forum (we called it a forum not a thread after it lived beyond a year and was even the target for being shut down for being so long) promoted the joy of driving and owning the 987 Spyder and here we are with Porsche's 3rd generation and this forum still running alongside it. If I was to return to Porsche I would like a Spyder. Ideally I would have liked to have kept the 987 Spyder when I went onto the 997 Turbo but i'm not that blessed. I wonder where my 987 Spyder is now. RE60 HDK. Anyone on here got it? I remember doing the deal to get it and convincing the dealer to swap some Spyder wheels on it from a Cayman R as the Spyder had Turbo II wheels on it which was a deal breaker for me on a Spyder.
Very true this thread was threatened with shut down as it's so large Tracy worked hard at the time to keep the thread alive with the powers to be at that particular time.
Long may it continue .
Nice one Rob.
Even rarer are the Resale Red onesflat6 said:I remember back then when so many 987 Spyders were available. Look how rare the blue ones are.
Cliff - well done Tracy

Cars from different eras - and comparing apples with pears perhaps - but just bear in mind that a Caterham weighs-in at about 530kg.!
Jeff
Very much so, a caterham is not really a usable car , we are seeing cars over 2 tons atm the new land rover is 3 tons.
drive a 1450 kg car and then a 1250kg car and the change in direction is there to see, feel etc. My 991.1 GTS lasted 2 months, very over rated car like any 981 is.
718 will be a nice daily if any OPC will let you have one without games, but they do weigh a bit much now days which is a shame.
981 will be nice buys at 55k when you can then de-restrict the engine back to 435bhp.
but it’s a big flaw and the 4.0 engine is getting rave reviews and making power till red line.

435 BHP? That’s a big hike in power. What are your grounds for believing that’s possible?
Edit: I know the engine came from the 991, but even the GTS version was only 424BHP. And do we know for sure that the Spyder engine wasn’t downgraded in some fundamental way which would make up rating it either very difficult or very expensive?
