I've bought two new Porsche's from OPC Chester and there is practically no chance they would sell me a GT car but they obviously appreciate his videos! How he has managed to get one, I don't know! I've seen him milling around at a few launches and I think he used to own a Miami blue 991.2 Targa GTS.

Sad to have confirmed the 981 Soundtrack has been lost.

He is more impressed with the look and suspension as the only plus points He isn't impressed with the new engine, power wise and sound wise He doesn't mention the not too shabby price hike over his 981 which was a bit surprising because if he wanted to trade up for the new look and better suspension and forgo the sound track and zero performance gain the costs would probably be circa a good £30k! ++[>:][]

Bit of rose tinted in this me thinks.

Im an ex 981 spyder owner and whilst i accept many will disagree I grew to dislike the exhaust noise. Why ? Not really sonorous like the 997 GTS was but the biggest issue was its impossible to make discreet high speed progress. All a bit infantile these days.

He didnt assess the engine as he was below 6k so is probably mistaking noise for how the engine performs. Need to wait until its cranked up to max.

For me henry catchpole reviews are more respected.

Well maybe I’m in my second childhood then 🤪. Having recently acquired a 981 Spyder I can tell you that I love the noise it makes. Driving with the sports plus button engaged is the default setting as far as I’m concerned. I suspect I’m not alone . . .

100% with you and I would add after 14 Porsche's on my CV this is by far the best and sportiest sounding ever. Perfect amount volume and superb tone from the tick over to red line for my ears [8D]

Can never have enough of it

+1 bells, whistles and styling updates don’t seem to have moved the car on for me. Suspension and tyres will make the 718 version trickier to exploit properly at this time of year I would imagine. And then there’s the noise...👍

Hi all

Just checking in on what's happening with Porsche. I like the look of the 718 and 981 Spyders. I think it's the only car that would tempt me back to Porsche. As much as I like 911s, I think the most notable 'unusual' model introduced in the last few years is the Targa (and I like unusual models) but the Spyder is both an interesting design and focused on the driving. The GT3->GT3 RS->GT2 RS cycle is getting quite predictable now.I

skimmed the 2 videos on this page. I'm surprised the 718 Spyder wasn't launched with a PDK version even if it is to come later. The chap hitting the rev limiter for ages every time when trying to drive fast could do with a PDK himself!

Hi 6,

Haven't seen you on these pages for a long time.! I think a combination of lack of development time coupled with the ramifications of WLTP meant that the introduction of a PDK option wasn't possible at the simultaneous launch of the Spyder and Cayman GT4. I believe that Q4 2020 is a likely PDK introduction date for both cars, although it could be sooner.

Hi Jeff

Yeah i'm seldom on here now as I don't have a Porsche. Those days are over whilst I focus on funding my son's racing (it's not easy with no sponsorship!). But I am enjoying a 4C much more than I thought I would. It's a brutal, eager little thing and much better with the mid-cycle steering revision they did.

I think the Spyder will be very popular with PDK.

How's the Cayman?
