Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Silver ones with PCCB and gold wheels now starts with a 6

Bargain of 2019 compared to the used 718 Spyder for sale at an OPC for £109k! Listed new at £91.6k = OTR £93.6k[] So the Silver 981 is a saving of £40k

but the 718 is 4 years newer and has a much better engine !

The Silver one is still a £67k retail car and £64k private sale car imo. but I guess he would take a lower offer.

That spec lists at £80 to £81k plus road tax. It’s pretty close to the spec I have in mind, but so far been unable to get any of the 3 OPC’s I deal with to take an order for! However, there’s no way I’ll be paying overs, so I’ll stick with my 987 until times change. It’s just such a shame that the OPC network is playing the game in the interim.

For anyone who Porsche didn't favour with a 718 Spyder 0r GT4 I bet they will be more than willing and able to sell you one of these mass produced versions :ROFLMAO: [link=https://www.msn.com/en-gb/cars/news/porsche-718-cayman-gts-40-spied-for-first-time/ar-BBYC2H6?ocid=spartanntp#interstitial=2]https://www.msn.com/en-gb/cars/news/porsche-718-ca...[/link] It will use a detuned version of the Cayman GT4’s six-cylinder engine. Last year, Porsche made an about-face with the 718 Cayman by reintroducing six-cylinder engines to the lineup. The mill, a newly developed 4.0-litre engine, powered both the Cayman GT4 and 718 Boxster Spyder, but those aren’t affordable models. That’s why Porsche is readying a new Cayman model called the GTS 4.0, which our spy photographers caught testing in the snow. The GTS 4.0 allows Cayman owners to get the six-cylinder engine without paying GT4 or Boxster Spider prices. However, Porsche will detune the mill in the lesser offering. In the GT4, the 4.0-litre makes 420 bhp and 309 lb-ft of torque. In the GTS 4.0, the engine should produce 400 bhp and an equal amount of torque. The 4.0-litre will pair with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed PDK. When Porsche moved the 718 lineup to four-cylinder engines, sales dipped, and Porsche is hoping to reverse those numbers going forward with the new GTS 4.0. Cayman fans should be happy. The new GTS 4.0 will make 35 more bhp than the four-cylinder GTS, which may not go away when the new GTS 4.0 arrives. It could stick around in some markets. Porsche is currently working on giving the 718 Cayman lineup a facelift, which we’ve already spotted. That means we likely won’t see the 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 until after the refreshed 718 debuts, which should happen sometime this year. The Geneva Motor Show is a few months away, which would give the German automaker an ideal venue, pushing the GTS 4.0 debut to the beginning of the next auto show season later this year

Not sure how accurate this guy is because he made a few errors with his summary of the car he was driving for 1000 miles and a week as having no options other than ceramics so a sticker price of circa $105k but it had full leather, 918 Buckets & metallic paint and probably Bose & Apple play however he claims USA cars are going to sound very different as they don't have the GPF in the PSE dulling the volume & tone down

Sounds like a perfect conversion to improve this flaw on EU spec cars if he is correct :ROFLMAO:

This looks like an answer to the new muted duller sound track on 718 GT cars

Be interested to know what this does to the dBA rating for track day access to circuits!!!

Chris I think this is the answer:-

The JCR Titanium Valved Race Pipe is a full direct replacement product for the OEM 718 GT4 and Spyder rear silencer assembly. No fabrication required, simply remove the factory rear silencer and replace with the JCR Valved Race Pipe.

Our system includes titanium tips which are fixed on v-band clamps. Not only does this ensure perfect alignment every time it also allows quick changes at the track to our optional Titanium Silenced Tips which reduce sound levels by a further 6-7dB ensuring that all owners who plan to use their cars on track will have no concerns about excessive noise levels on strict track events.

Rob/Chris,

I think that it's worth mentioning that one upside of the GPF fitment is that there are less likely to be problems with noise levels when using both the 718 GT4 and Spyder on track compared with the 981-series cars.

Good point Jeff but my cruising is strictly on our boulevards these days another reason (subject to a test drive) I believe the 981 to be much more user friendly on the streets than the GT4 convertible version now on offer something I have heard from 2 owners and one big GT used car seller [:'(]

All 3 concluded as a track car 718 Spyder runs rings around 981 but as a street car its completely the opposite experience[8D]

Was looking to replace my 987 Boxster Spyder with an Aston Martin N430 as hardly using the Spyder (13 miles travelled last year).

Talking to a number of dealers I could not believe the trade in prices. Decided to change approach and tried an Aston dealer with a Porsche centre in their company books. Was completely bowled over when they offered the lowest trade in ever at £29k. Obviously told them where to go.

My spyder has only 14k miles and is manual, sport chrone, PSE, buckets so not exactly a very undesirable spec.

Only reason I can think of the low price is that the OPC buyer was trying to pay off his extremely large xmas credit card bill at my expense thinking I would be stupid enough to accept that price!!!

George
