Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Do we think that the treatment handed out to UK enthusiast Porsche buyers over the years by the Porsche centres (or by diktat from Porsche Cars Reading) is coming back to haunt them, or merely covid-19 market effects?

Whatever the reason for how they vetted their current clientele for the limited production run models when this last happened in the early 1990's but on nowhere near the scale we will see when this nightmare finally ends and global economies are trashed for decades to come Porsche will be all over any potential customer like a rash.

They will also have to review their customer service on all fronts which is far from what it once was not to mention reducing their hourly labour rates to the coming new world order

I hope I am proven wrong but I think the party for most is well and truly over now

I have owned my 987 Spyder for 30months now and have only used it on 3 occasions so wasn't prepared to shell out another £50k

Used 3 times in 30 months?!!!!!! You cannot be that taken with the 987 Spyder if you only use it every 10 months

Doesn't matter how many times you drive it as long as when you do you enjoy it. I have a small car collection unfortunately I just struggle with finding time. :)

This one could be a hard spec to shift Red DFS Armchairs to match the roof

Presumably a change of mind/ circumstance - unlikely otherwise you’d pick such a personal specification to flip surely?

On another note has anyone else had the zip ties that secure some of the heat shielding material to the exhaust corrode away? They are on the vertical pipe going up to the engine, visible through the top rear of the wheel spokes. Mine is hardly ever driven in the wet and always garaged but both sides have rusted through being made of mild steel.

Indeed, that one’s quite “individual”.

You would need to approach that one in Sun glasses Cliff[8D]

I reckon someone had a grudge against a Porsche Centre when the spec'd that:rolleyes:

Not my taste, also note on Autotrader a lot of black cars, don't like black with black wheels or with the classic trim. The only car I would have is the Leeds Blue car mentioned earlier, now that is more like it and would sit nicely alongside my GT4

I agree not a combo I would choose or spec ...the Leeds Gentian is a nice looking car and a colour that is becoming popular but you cant beat Resale Red [:D] I see a good few 718 GT4 /Spyders around for sale think they may be there for a looong time ,no one can say how long until we can use our cars for leisure purposes, but would not be pleased if I had ordered a new car and now in lock down it could be a while before cars come in from the factory .On a positive doing all those little jobs on the to do list ..brownie points guys /gals

just saw a post over on FB some one there has the identical car but with 918 seats and people are all raving about it ...best not direct them to this forum [:D]

I'd still go for the Leeds blue car the only change I would make would be to swop the seats to Sports buckets so that they could be heated.

The Mackay car that says its sold was a good buy.

Yes just noticed that ...said sold in the last add ..certainly the cheapest for sale at present ,a realistic price to move it on.

Marked as sold on Autotrader and Mackay's website and cannot find now on Pistonheads.

Maybe they had not changed the Pistonheads advert.

I've just realised - we're on Page 987 of the thread.

So, somewhat controversially, can we all agree that 987 is the best [8|]
