718 GT4 PDK stats from Porsche

All Porsche 718 models can now be ordered with the seven-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK).

Both the Boxster and Cayman 718 GTS 4.0 variants (718 Cayman GTS 4.0 PDK: Fuel consumption combined 9.6 l/100 km; CO2 emissions combined 219 g/km (as of 09/2020); 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 PDK: Fuel consumption combined 9.6 l/100 km; CO2 emissions combined 219 g/km (as of 09/2020)), as well as the range-topping 718 Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4 models, are now also available with an automatic transmission. With PDK, there are no interruptions in acceleration during gear changes. This increases the comfort of the gear shifts and improves the acceleration values. Compared with the 718 models with the manual transmission, the 309 kW (420 PS; 718 Spyder PDK: Fuel consumption combined 10.2 l/100 km; CO2 emissions combined 232 g/km (as of 09/2020); 718 Cayman GT4 PDK: Fuel consumption combined 10.2 l/100 km; CO2 emissions combined 232 g/km (as of 09/2020)) GT models – the 718 Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4 – now accelerate from 0-100 km/h half a second faster, in 3.9 seconds. They reach the 200 km/h mark in 13.4 seconds (0.4 seconds faster). The 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 and 718 Boxster GTS 4.0, both with 294 kW (400 PS), also improve in the standard sprint from 0-100 km/h by half a second to 4.0 seconds, and then reach the 200 km/h mark in 13.7 seconds (0.4 seconds faster compared with the manual transmission).

A bit off topic but I would still ask. Have you found some interesting sites for gaming during the quarantine? I have been playing for several years on reputable site like [link=https://richprize.com/]RichPrize[/link]. But it would be interesting to try something new. I know that new sites offer great bonus system for the new users. I would like to find such platforms. Share the places you can recommend as trustworthy.

It was a long process, Porsche incrementally upping the pace of the Boxster and Cayman. They are now what was 911 performance not too long ago. Do you think there's room now below the 718 for a smaller, back to basics sports car? 🤔

"NO" I think that ship has sailed long ago and its all about the margins for now and entry level sports cars will only make entry level margins for same amount of production time a Spyder or GT4 could be rolling off the line :ROFLMAO:

Fancy a VOODOO BLUE 981 only 1 off 2 in the UK ....one is up for sale on FB Porsche Spyders uk ... 2016 4 owner 14.500 miles it is the one that JZM have sold a few times £63.500 add says full JZM history ...no PCM or Bluetooth.

Does anyone know if the CTEK 5.0 can be fitted straight on to the battery posts on a 718 Spyder. Handbook has a cross on the negative post and shows separate ground which is too far apart for the lead. Also if charging by socket, which one is live? Thanks.

There’s a very recent Boxster thread on batteries that has a picture showing you how to connect to the ground on the passenger side suspension turret which should work with even a short lead - on the 981 you definitely should not connect both sides directly to the battery. Assume the 718 is similar, the manual will tell you - if you do, you bypass the black box on the battery that controls the charging strategy and risk reducing the battery life over the long term.

None of the 12v sockets in my 981 stay live - but that does vary by build date, not sure about the 718.

I have an optimate connected directly to the battery terminals of my 718 Spyder and have not experienced any issues. I did the same for my previous cars (991.2 and 981 BGTS) and again never had any problems.

Looking at the manual it states not to connect directly to the negative of the battery for jump lead starting purposes, I guessing this is because of the high current involved whereas a trickle charger will only deliver 1 or 2 amps.

I believe the charge from the CTEK directly to the battery is too low to be an issue but I might have dreamt that :ROFLMAO:

Like wise have 3 cars on trickle charge 2 with the Lidl ones which use crock clips direct on to the post + - have used this method for years on all the cars inc 987 /981 Spyders

My 981 Boxster has the CTEK one fitted and use the same method but due to the hassle in removing the 981 cover have permanently hard wired then using the O rings but cut a bit out to form a C saves removing the bolts just unplug the connector socket inside the front ,also have read you should fix the - to the turret post .In all the years have had no issues using the post method ,the 987 has been on this method for 10 years.

CTEK have two `fixed` battery connectors, fused and un-fused ... the fused item is longer. The picture showing the n/s strut connection is using the un-fused item - picture showing the connector accessing through the cover is the fused item

True true, although, volume tends to be the direction they take. I don't think they will, but they certainly could. 4 litres is a huge displacement nowadays for a two seater sports car. Would love to try a 718 Spyder though ☺️

Thanks Brian. Good tip. made fitting the lead easy and it now comes out at the washer so no need to open the frunk.

I don’t think this sounds as good as the standard 981 PSE and judging by his summary I think he isn’t completely sold on it especially at a cost of over £5000! Excluding fitting charge

The trouble is the stock 718 PSE set up below 5k revs with valves open is barely audible and between 5-8k revs is very flat sounding and volume is still well below the 981’s so an after market option is the only way to go question is which one to pick

Apparently the Car Guy could have saved his £5k[] and just fitted this valve controller which like the 981 opens the valves from tick-over unlike the new PC factory set up which opens the 718's valves circa 4500-5k rpm mark which in any gear means your going some:ROFLMAO:

Indeed. That's my car :p My friend borrowed it for the heel'n'toe video.

Sounds better I agree ...but no way matches the 981 sound ...love the colour think it suits the shape better than the Spyder.

Wow !! nearly on page 1000 who will make it happen ..think it would only be fitting for our founder Spyder Man Robert (daro911) to fill in the last pages .

Brian I think some rare Resale Racing RED Spyders to close this 999th page would be fitting [8D]
