Needless to say, it passed with flying colours, no advisories etc. I use the MOT as a guide for the engine condition, ie checking the emissions, she's still good as new, close enough to pass if a new car. I only noted after getting home that they had logged me as the later year giving a 3.5% for a pass, for early 86 it should be 4.5%, 3.5% is after August. Anyway, a 0.64% for CO and 214 ppm for HC is a very good reading, my son just laughs at me when I worry about the emissions test, he just tells me that this engine will never fail its emissions, I think he's right, although if I recall it has been as low as 0.33% so might need a good blast on the motorway...
Here's the proof..
Here's the car waiting at my son's after he had checked it for the MOT station to call and say they were ready for me to drive straight over. I don't know how he finds the time to do all these cars, but then he is bloody fast. There's more parked out of sight too, clearly, he's doing very well and has a 5 star rating to prove it, good on him I say.
Everything seen in the picture is his unit, the small door in the corner on the left is the office outside door/fire escape, maintenance is the nearest door and body repairs in the far door. I know that my car is always in good hands when he works on it and it seems all customers to date would agree. The guy in the picture is not my son, that's Ash who's just built an electrics workstation in one corner and some large hung storage boxes, he's currently putting up a number of official approval/member signs. Inside there is my son Richard, Luis who's my son's business partner and does the bodywork, he's worked on true exotics like Ferrari, Aston, Porsches, Lambo's, you name it he's painted it. A truly first-rate highly experienced bodywork sprayer. " two other workers make up the crew, so far.
Yes, I admit it, I'm a proud father and also a very, very lucky one as I couldn't afford to fully maintain my car now that I'm retired...

The last one is older, before the rebuild, approx 190k miles, alas for some reason I can't find last years, or in fact many from previous years, I do recall it being in the mid 0.30's for both.

car plugged in receiving its gas at my son's place.
And a close up of the new valves which surprisingly fit with zero contact with the bonnet.
If anyone in the North London needs a refill, my son charges customers £55 which according to my neighbour who just had his done for £70 is cheap, I have no idea myself what today's charges are.
