I will just say that there aren't many cars out there that turn heads or get the thumbs up like a 951, in fact very few and certainly none of those ^^^^^ above.

I've had litre sports bikes for nearly 40 years, sold my last BMW S1000RR just over a year ago. The 944 turbo is a great 80's car, but there comes a point where trying to compete with 30 year newer engines/transmissions is pointless. IMO the sweet spot for the 944T is around 360-400 bhp. I had a play with a recent twin turbo M3 the other day, in the corners I could stay with it, down the straights it just drove away. If that had really bothered me, I'd sell the 944 and buy a mapped 997 turbo.

I have zero interest in posing, or what other people think of my car. I find all that a bit embarrassing TBH.

 
i find it amaizing how much power can be had from these 2.5 80s 8valves. i also think i’ll be happy with a reliable 350-400 i would be very pleased with that.

my main reason for selling the Lamborghini apart from the waste of money , was i actually was too embarrassed in the end with the amount of people that would gather round the vehicle everywhere i went. all that makes me cringe and i have been like that since young. you deep down want people to like what you have but when you get flooded and people taking photos when you and the misses are just poping to the shops and a coffee. it becomes weird and intrusive so couldn’t take it anymore. so investes the money into another property ( how boring is that 😩😂)

my cousin has a mapped 997 turbo nice car, think that’s around 500 now.

Not boring at all, just waiting on the searches for a place with a treble garage, that's 20 minutes from a huge sandy beach.

 
Dan - Rich Harms (Richair) is currently having a 944T exhaust made for his racecar by the guy who made my exhaust.

He can do it in 3” including the downpipe in either 3” or 2.75” a la Fabspeed.

problem i’ve got, is i love to try do things myself , and that way i get more satisfactio. other problem i have is i’ve already spent money on a huge box full of different angles of 3” stainless pipes to build a full system 🤨

would reaply need it on a ramp to do the best job.....but i also needed one when i changed the clutches and the engines out on them and that didn’t stop me 😉. changed my first engine in a 944 lux on the floor when i was 20, think it took me 16 hours 😱.

on the floor it will have to be,.... raised as high as poss. hopefully next year if i don’t buy one.

 
I understand what you're saying and I'm capable of doing it myself, but I'd still buy the down pipe at least from someone that has already made one. And that bends tubes every day.

 
yes i know exactly what your saying. i’m not bad at welding but deffinately not great as all self taught, but i’m gonna give a few scraps a go first and also try brazing if thats even possible with stainless? never tried it, but got a load of it. And i’ll very quickly make my mind up from that i’m sure 😁 i know that’s a realy decent price though, i’m definately going to email him and see if he can send me some pics of his bends which is why i wanted to weld them as not to have too much crush.

its definately going to be a long job, and if i did end up doing it myself, i’m deffinately going to make up and use a bungs as i go along to illuminate leaks from a set up with my compressor , as it would be a nightmare to find and fix leaks if not done as you go

would be very satisfying if i did do it but not gonna hold my breath on it as it’s a big one.

 
While discussing downpipes...when fitting fit the pipe loosely to the turbo first. Fit turbo loosely to it's mount and check for clearance, if all good tighten up one bolt, if not, adjust and then tighten one bolt. Remove from mount and then tighten all bolts fully being careful not to move a anything....this will make life much easier....I would have the exhaust sections already loosely fitted so you can be sure that everything will line up.

What with all this hot weather of late, I have to say how happy I am that the A/C was recharged last week...thank god for small mercies...:)

And it is basically a front wheel drive with some haldex to the rear in a cheap hatchback chassis.

I decided not to spend any more on the 944 engine and that an LS3 was an unstressed option of 420+BHP with arguably a better sound track for the similar money to a fragile 944T engine - just need to have time to dedicate to sorting it for RHD.

The engine looks like it was designed to fit in the engine bay weighs slightly less than a 944 lump and offers similar mpg despite the extra performance.

Hmm...A/C's need to be run for longevity of surface life, keep them oiled....you may need to get the various parts serviced or even replaced. When I put my car back on the road my son changed most parts...compressor , drier etc as they hadn't been used for years. The compressor clutch packed up years before, I did report my theory at the time of the crank pulley falling off being perhaps due to the ressonation through the belt due to the seized compressor., under the right conditions anything is possible with such forces so who knows?.....pipes are still original but now with new seals for R134a...hasn't leaked during these past 5 years...when we recharged last week it was still fully pressurised...just not as cold hence fresh gas...
