How many GT3/3RS are taken on track days? There have been one or two 991 GT3s on most of the 13 track days I have been on this year (except for the stop thru engine replacement period). There is generally two or three 996/997 GT3/GT3RS on each day. I imagine the same would be true of GT4s. I see some participants regularly, but most are working age and so have other things to do with their time.

Golf is also expensive I am told, ;-) I do have a few hobbies like Shooting, photography and cycling as well as Cars, I am happy doing 3 or 4 track days a year, I have more fun on B roads with mates or trips out with friends both of which are free to do bar a bit of fuel. GT4 brakes..? The Cayman S/GTS has front/rear 4-piston calipers and 330mm/299mm discs. The 991S/GTS has front/rear 6-piston/4-piston calipers and 340mm/330mm discs. The 991 GT3 has front/rear 6-piston/4-piston calipers and 380mm discs. Depends how you want to drive! I don't know ANY roads where I could drive like I drive on the track! I've done many track days, rallies, races, sprints and hillclimbs but still don't find track days over rated. The 2016 looks to have a different pattern rear wheel to the front?
For road use the current sizes are perfectly adequate. I don't have problems with fade on track, just cost of replacements but much better than Carerra GTS. There is a trade off between disks and pads, I had Pagid RS29 Yellows on the GTS and the pads wore well but the disks required replacing more frequently (lasted 4 track days). On the Cayman, I've had to fit new pads front and rear but initial set of front disks lasted 9 track days. Is the difference is cars' weight or pad type? - most likely a combination (GTS and Cayman both 330mm fronts). More pots, more clamping, more heat, therefore bigger disc required for heat dissipation. You would think the 991S brakes would be standard for road, but Porsche persist with holes v slots and therefore need you clean them out after each track day to delay onset of cracking.
A typical development hack Ralph. Interesting to hear your experiences with pads and discs on the Carrera compared with the CS. The 991 Carrera GTS weighs in at 1425kg [DIN unladen weight] whereas the 981 Cayman GTS's equivalent figure is 1345kg, so a fair bit lighter and with a different weight distribution, brake balance and therefore maybe a different pad material. If the GT4 is going to be lighter than the GTS, it's perhaps surprising if Porsche are planning to fit bigger, and therefore heavier, discs and callipers. I always mean to clear out the holes in the discs every time I have the wheels off but somehow just can't face the tedium of it. Maybe next time. Jeff

how many times have you changed your pads, tyres ? where you do stay ?, how much fuel do you use to get there and back ?, have you had new disks yet ?, fuel on track entry fee, food etc etc and a new clutch, let alone all the extra bits you have bought for the car which a road user would not buy. on top of that you bought a few sets of tyres and wheels which I will not even count. min price on these cars is £600/700 to track per day realistic price is £1k per track day all in. If you think it's less then man maths are at play ;-) when I had a Lotus it was about £400/500 a day all in.
Yes. Could be 380mm discs like those on the GT3. The car's sitting pretty low - probably dropped more than the X73 [20mm] option. Wouldn't fancy taking speed bumps with that low front end without a front axle lifting system. The pics aren't briniging much more to the party though other that rear spoiler looking a bit rough and ready for production. JeffORIGINAL: MrDemon def seems to have very big disks and front 6 pots
