Oops I meant Ralph! []ORIGINAL: flat6Thanks Frank. Sounds like the 991 3.8 with 991 brakes and x73 sports suspension is a good combination.ORIGINAL: ralphmusicA customer's story http://rennlist.com/forums/987-981-forum/779407-impressions-of-my-981-boxster-w-bgb-3-8l-991s-conversion.html BTW they usually quote hp as rear wheel (rwhp), not crankORIGINAL: flat6 Point taken. I don't know anything about the US tuners and what they're achieving with the current car.. But do they care as much as Porsche about the all round package and handling? But it is reassuring though.

Cayman GT4: Where are we up to now?

Lol. That cargo should be switched to the railway. Your car needs the ability to narrow itself to survive that[]ORIGINAL: fbrCecil What combination would you suggest for this? As young Ralph would have it "Say hello to ABS" . Traffic is a bit heavy at this time of the year. Merry Christmas FrankORIGINAL: flat6 Thanks Frank. Frank, Down here we have a different type of traffic jam

Cecil 16ft carriage way, 1ft overhang, 6 inch clearance and roof down. No problem! The wonders of 'electric' steering - next topic? FrankORIGINAL: flat6 Your car needs the ability to narrow itself to survive that[]
I tempted my sister into buying a 981 Boxster S PDK after she was working towards an SLK purchase. She'd only seen my 987 but felt it was too masculine. I told her to go check out a 981. She checked it out online and liked the look so she went to see one and she was impressed with it inside and out. Then also impressed with the drive. She can use it to comfortably cruise from London to Manchester but then it can also satisfy her occasional wild side (not as wild as mine - I scared her after 60 seconds of easing up to showing her half of what it can do[]). So responsive is the throttle and transmission even in normal mode. I've written about the steering before. Compared to the Spyder I had at the time it did lack some feel (but comparing to a 981 without x73 sport suspension isn't a fair comparison) but the steering is very responsive and accurate once you adapt to the lightness. I was looking forward to chucking it around my favourite piece of local B road as I hadn't driven one for a while but she kept asking me to slow down, even when I felt like I was cruising. Still, it gave her a taste of what the car can do and she has since told me that she does brake harder since I showed her how good the brakes are and just the basics of scrubbing off speed before a corner will allow her to have lots of fun assertively yet confidently. I think it's a well polished machine and it's pretty impressive how it can waft along like a Mercedes and then hug bends like a Spyder and that's without x73. She wouldn't have enjoyed a 987 as much I think. She doesn't use the sports exhaust much except when one of her male friends asks her to switch it on. Though she is now making use of the heated steering wheel on her heavily optioned nearly new car. In stunning white she has never spoken to so many people at traffic lights paying complements as she drives around London. She's really pleased with the car. Sorry to digress on a GT4 thread!
A very nice early Christmas present 6. First of all I misread your post and thought you'd bought it for her..! Well , that’s me off for the Christmas holiday. Well done to you and all the contributors to this post which I note has been running for just over 6 weeks and is now the 9th most active topic……and we haven’t even got a car yet..! Amazing how much entertaining froth has been generated before we get something more tangible in the new year. Have a great holiday everyone and if, like me, you’re out on the roads, drive carefully. All the best, Jeff
Thanks Jeff. You've started an good topic here and as you say, with the car not even here yet, there's definitely a lot of life in this thread yet! Merry Christmas to all and as you rightly say, drive carefully. I'm one of the ones who can't justify winter tyres even though convinced of their advantages, so will be driving very carefully on the couple of ooccasions the car will come out in low temps.

Production version? Big brakes, nice wing and no centre locks..
Funny thing that someone was hanging out of a window/bridge and lo and behold a GT4 passed by...
Good to see that we're back up and running again. Happy New Year to All. Yes, a bit suspicious Ralph. Maybe an insider gave the nod to a friend/journo that a GT4 might just be passing by a particular location..! Not sure that the BB [Böblingen, Baden-Württemberg] plate has any relevance. Looks like a production-ready car to me but, as MrD says, not sure about the wheels. Jeff
Looks a lot more plain that i thought it would with the exception of the obvious front nose cone and big rear spoiler. Bigger brakes can be seen which is a good upgrade even my CR feels like it could have better brakes with more feeling. Thought it might have had side decals like a CR or RS. Wonder if they will come in any special standard colours? Dont like those wheels either, not special like a Spyder or CR rim could be off any Porsche model. Will have to wait and see all this speculation I might have expected to much especially if it has a high price tag. Cliff
The wheels are at least the wider ones available for the GTS. On availability and pricing as of today, “@PorscheRetail: @ralphisnot We have no official news yet. Don't worry, as soon as we hear something we'll be tweeting!†but I can't say I expected anything else, off to bug some salesmen...
It'll still be plain whilst it is still pre-launch as it is not supposed to be drawing maximum attention yet. No decals or new wheels on early sightings pre-launch. Even an 'Aerokit Cayman' spoiler on the 2nd Spyder pic below.ORIGINAL: CLIFFWILKINS Looks a lot more plain that i thought it would with the exception of the obvious front nose cone and big rear spoiler. Being a GT probably PDKORIGINAL: MrDemon I still have £65k plus options which means nothing as we don't know what is standard.
