..and it is a polluter 238g/km v 223g/km for a manual Carrera S and in a higher road tax bracket... Should have fitted PDK!

That's true. Be patient Ralph, it's coming as according to their figures 80% of orders are for PDK so why wouldn't they?

dual AC is daft yes, but you have to spec it to get Climate ;-( annoying. warranty I am told from Feb 2015 you now get 3 years real Porsche warranty woo hoo. or that might be a bad thing as I would have deleted the 3rd year and saved £860 lol you can always add it back if you still have the car for the same price in 2 years. but most of the time I don't have the car. This time though I plan to try and keep it some how.

Thanks to its overdrive 7th gear and coasting function Ralph. Ideal features when you're pushing on in your GT4...? Of course, real-world driving conditions make a mockery of these figures but manufacturers are just playing the system. Jeff

ORIGINAL: Motorhead Digital radio? Porsche Vehicle Tracking anti-theft system? The list goes on..! Jeff
So how many more items of standard equipment are really options: Climate, Digital Radio, VTS, what else?

At least some options are free Chris: 64-litre fuel tank; smoking package; passenger footwell storage net; steering wheel rim and gear lever in black smooth leather. And aircon can be deleted at no cost. Jeff

And more importantly: bi-Xenon headlights, sports exhaust, Sport Chrono Pack with dynamic engine mounts, leather/Alcantara interior trim, sports seats, 20-inch alloy wheels, Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with rear limited slip differential, a universal audio interface offering MP3 connectivity

I would be surprised if Porsche don't spot that although there's nothing to prevent selling on as such.

ORIGINAL: MrDemon what are they going to say to those GTS orders who how have Jan 2016 dates, sorry but you cannot have a car till May 2016 !! GTS cars have been put so far back the gen 2 981 will be here , I would say orders books will be closing for GTS also at this rate.
Exactly what they have just said to a friend we have 3 stocks cars which would you like for March 1st[] So much for long deliveries [:D]

Hi All Just catching up on a few discussion points on this thread. This is clearly going to be a great car. Don't understand the hesitation of anyone who had an LOI in. The final product is as per the leaked information, including the price, so no surprises there. And Porsche's structure of options and pricing is consistent. Not sure why there's been so much talk about selling the car on at a profit. Supply and demand controls used price, not forum hype (people have been trying to 'forum-hype' the Spyder up to £50K for about a year now. It doesn't work like that). If plenty intend to supply the used market in a year or so, when the car is not produced in finite numbers, there will be new cars as well as used cars to supply the market in a couple of years and buyers will have choice, unlike a car that is no longer in production or has a fixed (such as the 991 GT3). Don't know why the comparisons to a GT3 in a way that assumes the car will show up the GT3 £ for £. Porsche will ensure that doesn't happen. The manual-only option will be to keep the car behind whichever 991 (not necessarily the GT3) that they wanted to keep it behind (maybe also de-tuning the engine). Buy the car because you like it but not hang off every word of marketing, because they will say the opposite about manual-only if they launch a PDK version after every 991 has had a power hike (and they said the opposite about manual vs PDK in the uncompromised GT3). So, I don't see the point in comparing to any 991. It is a great car in its own right. What if it can't blow away, for example, a Carrera GTS with -20mm Sport PASM, Aerokit, PDK and 430hp. That doesn't matter. It will have mid-engined balance and poise that will be a joy to drive and is worth paying for. Porsche has always meticulously aligned performance to price point, even down the 'identical' Boxster vs Cayman platforms, robbing precise amounts of hp to insert tenths of a second between them. Happy to be wrong is this case that Porsche won't ensure that a £65K Porsche performs as a £65K Porsche should versus say a £95K Porsche. Don't get me wrong, I think this car could be the best new idea to be added to the Porsche portfolio in years. The stuff of legends, quite possibly (and it doesn't have to be an instant money spinner from conception to become a legend - has that ever happened before?). And I think the price is right. I can think of a certain Italian mid-engined car that was £50K before options and so this mid-engined Porsche engineered marvel is a steal at £65K IMHO. Who is buying this car? Cayman buyers who have been waiting a long time for Porsche to do this (some already said the GTS was too expensive). Or buyers with a GT3 sized wallet snapping this up as a bargain compared to what they usually spend. I can't afford one so will have to sit on the sidelines and read about it[&o] Looking forward to seeing one of these reviewed in Porsche Post.

I wonder how Porsche go about refunding 60% of the deposits they have taken. big clue in that post ;-p

Who would want their deposit back until all hope is lost?

I agree that until numbers are confirmed by Porsche I doubt any refunds will be given nor taken. When I asked about numbers of deposits taken and how this related to the expected numbers of cars my OPC were coy but said that they had stopped taking deposits for the GT4 on Feb 6th.

Mine came to £80,500 []

When I put the question yesterday to my sales rep at Hatfield PC he said that the GT4 has attracted a huge amount of interest, with over 250 deposits placed throughout the UK, and the final allocation has not yet been confirmed. But at this stage, it would be unlikely that they could supply a car if I was to place a deposit now. Jeff

Jeff I am somewhat confused here ... If Hatfield know you are a serious buyer but they can't commit to supplying a car why would you or anyone want to leave their showroom with your hard earned cash sitting in their bank account! There has been a lot of talk on certain forums about how hard it is to get a 981 GTS but not only can you get one today but there are even choices to be had and very decent discounts off list When did a Porsche Centre ever give a discount of a model that is as hard to come by as rocking horse doo doo [:D]

Maybe my OPC are wanting to make it a pleasant surprise for me by saying that I will get a build slot, its a 'maybe' at the moment and I will be contacted in the next 2-3 weeks...trying to under-promise and over-deliver and all that prehaps?!

Rob, there's no way that I would part with any up-front cash without a firm commitment from them to supply a car within a reasonable time-scale. I'm a bit old-fashioned and rather like to see what I'm getting beforehand and would prefer to delay a purchase until I've had sight of the beast, so a 2016 purchase would suit me fine if I decided to go ahead. I genuinely believe that none of the PCs know at the moment how many cars they're going to be allocated for this year and are still waiting to hear from the Porsche Retail Group. Jeff
