Cayman GT4: Where are we up to now?

An unhappy US customer on planet9 reports an experience those aspiring to a GT4 and GTS can probably relate to: QUOTE The GT4 proves the Porsche factory-dealer model is broken. Between my own 2015 car order and the chaos surrounding the GT4 allocations, I think Porsche has a lot of work to do to improve the customer experience in the United States First, I think all special edition P cars should be direct factory to consumer. In the case of the GT4, the first 600 people in the United States to put a deposit of $2500 in should get a confirmed, sequential allocation for the car at MSRP with door to door shipping. 600 cars is not significant enough revenue to make or break any one dealer. Let's be honest about their role in this industry - it's to move Cayennes and Macans in volume to weekend shoppers with great financing/leasing. The absurdity of letting dealers allocate cars based on favoritism to family and friends has no place in 2015. I could wait years for a GT4 trying to put a deposit down in the Bay Area even though I'm a current owner. Second, the sh*t head 25 year old who sold me my car added no value to the transaction. His goal was to waste as much of my time as possible until I decided the clock had run too long, and paid him his ransom so my wife and I could get back to our offices in San Francisco. Off the cuff I told him this is why Tesla had higher customer satisfaction, as the people who help you drive the cars are not salespeople and do not work on commission - they don't even want you to buy a car in the store as you can start the order transaction on your phone or on your laptop. Essentially I paid my Porsche sales guy $3500 over invoice to enter an order for the car I specified into an Internet Explorer 6 front end form to some nightmare of an SAP factory integration. END QUOTE/RANT

did you buy this domain Ralph lol http://www.porschegt4.com/ it was available last week this week it's amusing

You can't have it both ways .... A want and desire for a limited run car to show off as you have the only one in your home town but also get a car delivered on your doorstep the next day is unrealistic. GT cars have been and will always be a small yet essential percentage of Porsche's business - they are an enthusiasts car and therefore essentially need to be made in small numbers and built relative to demand. In my humble opinion, Porsche are playing this perfectly - gauging demand first then providing supply just a little below demand - take a leaf from the legend Ferrari ... This helps all our residuals, unfortunately some people late on the list will not get one but thats why there is a list in the first place. Anyway if you've got £75K put to one side for a GT4 then surely a GT3 will suffice your want and desire and i am sure there will be a lot of GT3's coming to the market over the next 4 months to move to GT4 ownership and therefore in theory reducing GT3 Prices as there will be more than usual on the market with a small window of opportunity to get into a GT4 and bargains possibly could be had .... "GT3 Owners please don't kill me" - You've done pretty well in the last 18 months LOL So again "In Theory" everyone Wins .... "Lets all hope so" and everyone gets their dream car, whatever that may be! Just imagine the debate if they ever bring out a GT4 RS .......

Was at my local OPC today looking around and spoke to one lucky guy who was about to spec his GT4 think he went for the Blue in all the press pics with satin wheels looked stunning on the big configurator screen . He was one of the first but reckoned it will be 2016 before he gets it .Also in the showroom was a Viper Green GTS at £70.500 it was stunning nice to see the retro colours coming back all be it at a £2.500 premium ,they also had a Boxster S in the same colour but did not carry the colour off as well as the Cayman.

Sorry I have no idea how to upload them from my phone to this site ....you could contact Porsche Glasgow 0141 258 8015 and ask one of the sales team to take a few and send them to you.

Finding it impossible to spec below £72k ... For me here are the Must haves ... 1) Buckets 2) PCM 3) Chrono Then 4) Red/Yellow stitching 5) Telephone 6) Alcantara extras 7) Cruise Wish List 8) PCCB 9) Club Sport = £80k Plus ... Crazy ?!!!

ORIGINAL: MrDemon what are they going to say to those GTS orders who how have Jan 2016 dates, sorry but you cannot have a car till May 2016 !! GTS cars have been put so far back the gen 2 981 will be here , I would say orders books will be closing for GTS also at this rate.
They are going to say to any potential GTS owner order a Boxster S to GTS spec much quicker delivery 3 months and much better profit margin for Porsche & the dealers [:D] You won't even notice the 0.01 second to 62 mph difference once you get the roof down and PSE on "SIr" [:D]

you get the sports mode free, the very expensive crono is now only a timer ! CS seems daft in a road car and adds in a ton of weight what Alcantara extras do you need, it comes with every thing if you tick leather option. I thought I speced mine quite high, bar the PCCB and it comes in at £73k I could save £800 and go for silver stitching, but I wanted red door pulls :) http://www.porsche-code.com/PGU4U5M5

Mr D ditch the 2 zone air con [:D] Question with the full leather & silver stitching do you get the entire bucket seat in leather or does it still have the woolly b*gger centres[&o]

According to the base spec. climate control is included, whereas it always used to be Air Cond. only. If this is true then who needs dual zone climate?

Chris, According to the configurator, Air conditioning with integrated active carbon filter is standard and Climate Control an extra, so I think that to get full climate control you have to pay £518 for the option. Also I note that on the latest version of the configurator there's no mention of the third year Porsche Extended Warranty and Breakdown Assistance. I know that it was optional but does that mean that Porsche has at last given purchasers a full 3-year factory warranty [unlikely] or are they going to be hit with an additional £1k when they collect the car? This is confusing, why did they state standard equipment includes climate control in the original press release, no doubt the three year warranty is also inaccurate? Standard equipment includes bi-Xenon headlights, sports exhaust, Sport Chrono Pack with dynamic engine mounts, leather/Alcantara interior trim, sports seats, 20-inch alloy wheels, Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with rear limited slip differential, digital radio, a universal audio interface offering MP3 connectivity, automatic climate control, Porsche Stability Management (PSM), a Porsche Vehicle Tracking anti-theft system and a three-year warranty.
