DesignTek Exhaust muffler bypass X pipe

Its bound to be done now. Im sure they had the part by Tuesday. Not long for you to find out! [:D]

Well Ian? When I was driving today, I was thinking you were probably out and about enjoying the PSE?

Yeah, I have PSE. Was one of my requirements when looking for a 911. I never thought about retrofitting it, which now looking back I did let a few cars go because of it. I know for the next time :)

Well, you happy or are you thinking you need to get that X-Pipe on.

I sill think I need a bit more from mine.

Yeah you can hear the difference alright in that video. More throaty.

Glad they finally got it completed. Now its time to enjoy it! :)

X-Pipe is on the cards for me too, sometime soon.

Well, I was staring at my car last night with the rear stripped and thought, now would be a perfect time to get the xPipe. So, I ordered the DesignTek one also and should be here tomorrow! Excited now!

I changed the plugs last night and decided to start the car without the side mufflers on, sounds a beast without those side mufflers! Looking forward to hearing the difference tomorrow night when I put the XPipe on and everything back together.

You'll have yours sorted before me! I've had to drop everything and head to Tenerife as my dad took very ill on holiday. Let me know how it goes for you as I showed in the pics the designTek looks good quality.

Ah no Ian, hope your dad recovers and all is OK!

Yeah, it does look like good quality and hoping it makes a nice sound and nothing mental. Will let you know hopefully tomorrow night. Got express delivery to ensure it was here before the drive at the weekend.

Good luck in Tenerife!

Well Ian, I have the X-Pipe fitted to Cats but not the side mufflers. The fasteners that I ordered via Porsche Belfast were to be here yesterday but the Courier had other ideas. They should arrive today! I will have it on tonight hopefully and take it for a scorch. I should have just ordered them from Design911.

The XPipe itself seems to be good quality and I see they have a little small pipe connecting the two parts of the X at both sides which probably adds to the sound (like a Gundo hack, but on the Xpipe and not the mufflers). Dying to hear it when fully setup.

Pretty solid fit. I was just going to tighten the Flange bolts up tight...but since they are stainless steel etc.. I torqued them to about 18Nm and then a 15-20degrees turn extra. Online it give varying torques for stainless steel M8 bolts. The actual original bolts not lubricated is 30Nm. So with the copper grease (i know not really needed) I went a bit lower than the max torque these guys can take. Got some info from here.

I also had already ordered gaskets from design911, so I used them instead of the Designtek ones provided. Even though the ones that were on the cats were fine.

If the sound and all is OK and no major drone, I will probably sell the centre muffler.

Hows your Dad? Getting better? Hope all Ok on that front.

Well, I really like the the XPipe. It adds that extra sound with no drone to the cabin. That sweet spot between 3K to 5K rpm is now even sweeter! It sounds really good when driving. It also makes the sports Exhaust that bit more throaty when cruising about town. Im very happy with it!

Here's a clip. I will keep this link open for a few weeks. The clip doesn't really do it justice.

Sounds just a bit deeper Julie st like I hoped Ray. As you say hard to get the videos to give the proper sound.

Well all to do now is enjoy!
