DesignTek Exhaust muffler bypass X pipe

Not yet unfortunately, was going to do last weekend but friend who has the hyd ramps wasn't available. Not home this weekend so hope to get it done next weekend!

Keep looking at it sitting there waiting!

Well its worth it... Looking forward to hearing what your 3.8 sounds like!

It doesn't take long to strip the car down but the exhaust bolts try your patience! :)

Nice one! It took me absolutely ages to get the bolts off. Hopefully now with the stainless steel ones however, it will slide off anytime in future. Must keep an eye on them and torque again if necessary. I have two heat shields around the CATs that need replacing, so I will be in there again soon enough. There's a club drive this Sunday. Meeting up at Corrs Hotel, 10 bells. You should come along and see if you like it, might make you join the club?

good link Angus.

maybe some day i might change my cats and manifolds. I think on my GenII the cats are welded to the manifolds. I would be very scared of trying to loosen the manifold bolts šŸ˜•. So over the past few months ive been spraying them with WD40 just in case i do decide to change them. Its about one of the few options I have for my C2 To improve sound and performance.

Well Ray, finally got X pipe fitted and short run to the airport today confirmed a bit more base and volume as I wanted so thumbs up from me too.

Hi Ian, the PCGB open day is on the 10th June this year. Good day to go and see other members and plenty of Porsches!

Well I ordered my headers and X-Pipe two weeks ago and should be delivered in another two weeks. My manifold studs are pretty shocking condition so I will try to document my progress as I attempt the job in around 6 weeks time. Yes the Gen 2 CATS are part of the headers. I have the PSE exhaust so I'm really interested how the X-Pipe will change the sound in conjunction to the use of the PSE.

Ian, its at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum

Where are you based Angus? You will hear Rays at the open day and mine too if I can get there!

Angus, are you here in Northern Ireland too?

There are a few nice pics in that link you shared showing the fabspeed setup.

Well my baby is sick. So you may not see nor hear me at the open day. I'm putting it down to the High Pressure fuel pump. See a more in depth description in my other thread.

If I was closer to Belfast I would just let Porsche do it as they are priced pretty reasonable to be fair. Though I'm 60 miles away and do not like the thought of getting someone to flat bed it to Belfast for me. I'm not even sure what a reasonable cost for this would be. So, I'm almost contemplating doing this myself. Though still debating it. Of course I could spend the 500 odd quid on pump and problem still there. However the symptoms seem to point to it.

Here are the lovely Cat bolts that cost me a few hours when changing the plugs and installing the x-pipe.

Lovely!
