This photo was inserted using the "insert image/edit" button and pasting the URL in the box but the picture moves with the text and I can't position it where I would like it in my post.

Regards,

Clive

It's just a matter of inserting returns/line breaks where you need them.

If you don't the image, plus the following or preceding text will take up the available space on the line.

The PCGB forum used to look much smarter and easier to read (at a glance) than TIPEC's.

We now have six viewable topic lines on my display, versus fifteen on the TIPEC forum. It looks terrible and the tweaks and attempts to rectify this appear to have achieved very little.

The forum software, as implemented, looks terrible. It might be technically superior, but I would vote to return to the old appearance in a flash. The double spacing is ridiculous and the only way that it could be made to look worse would be to introduce Comic Sans as the default font - sorry.

Due to my login data not working only just been able to look at the new lay out, I now find hard to tell if new post's have been added.

Once I click on a post it looks ok.

I've spent the last couple of days using it in landscape mode on my iPad and although I prefer the older version I am getting used to the new layout.

Time never stands still and hopefully it will keep being tweeked to improve it and in a years time we will all be happy with the new Forum [:)]

Thanks for tips, John. I've found it's still quite difficult to control several photos in the post by inserting them as you suggest.

In fact, I've found hosting them Photobucket in the usual way and simply pasting the URL link (not the Direct Link) into my post allows me to position photos exactly where I need them without having to manipulate them by introducing spaces, line breaks and paragraphs returns. So happy days! [:)]

Hi James,

If you go to the forum menu on the top toolbar there's the option to go to "latest posts". That's the same as the old "posts since last visit" option apart from not having a cut-off.

It does label new threads, and ones with unread posts, so it's pretty easy to see where you last read up to. Like so many things, it becomes instinctive when you've used it for a while.

Hi All

I log in daily and select Latest Posts but every time it has 15 pages. It gets tedious and after scrolling thru a few pages i get bored and log out. Am i doing something wrong ???

The ones that are new or updated since you last logged in are flagged "New" - these are at the front of the list (currently the first 2 or so pages) after that are the ones that you have previously not clicked into (the rst of the 15 pages). So if you ONLY want the ones since the last time, just look at the "New" flagged posts.

Could be that I onlu use my mobile for Internet. Haven't turned on the laptop for a long time to go on Web.

Shame as I'm finding myself viewing the other fourm more simply due to the change.

Thanks for the kind and warm welcome

As I mentioned before: the PCGB forum used to be FAR better looking - now the TIPEC forum is a more attractive proposition. Not a better forum, but I will wager that it is getting read more now as a result of this.

you know I don't think I've ever frequented the Tipec forum although i did attend some of their meets many years ago which I have to say i preferred feeling more welcomed ...I have just registered as it looks good to me.....using same ID as here...they allow only 3 characters over there....:)

Pete

i made a post saying 'Hi'...just awaiting a moderator to approve it's posting before it can be seen...lol

Taking my Admin hat off for a moment I have to say I just don't get this. I log on, I get a home page which lists registers, regions and other forums. I select a forum, say 997, and I get a list of threads. I can see what are new posts since I last looked and so on - just like the old forum. I look at the Tipec forum and I don't see that as any easier, or for that matter more difficult to navigate. IMHO - as they say in forum speak. The integration of the club website and forum and introduction of Mailchimp is a step forward - well, it is for members anyway.[;)]

Sheesh! People come round your house, sit in your lounge and say "I think next doors lounge is much nicer."
