R15 has about 1 post per year, usually by me! It is absolutely no indication of how active a region is as R15 is very busy and run by excellent ROs and helpers. Yesterday we made our annual visit to Little Bridge House children's hospice, which is the charity to which our fund raising goes. I can see a lot of "value" in that.

In reply to Mr Sims, this forum is an official branch of the Porsche brand.....

No it isn't.

It is a forum for Porsche enthusiasts run by Porsche enthusiasts. Porsche Club GB does have a handfull of paid employees but they are there because it would not be possible for the Club to support all of its members only by people giving up their spare time.

The Club is recognised by Porsche Cars and Porsche is a sponsor of the Club, as is Pirelli, Lockton Insurance, and others. Sponsors do not have any input into the running of the Club, or the forum, aside any services or discounts they may provide to members.

This is playing on words. If Porsche "supports" the club, then a corresponding level of quality is to be expected.

But anyway, I duly take note of the latest comments made and it's probably just time for me to move along. I don't think I have much to contribute anymore anyway.

Wish everyone much fun [:)]

Essex is actually quite a vibrant Region with something on almost every other weekend, monthly meets and other events. The annual BBQ is one of the largest gatherings of Car Clubs in SE England. They just don't use the Forum to communicate what they are doing. Some Regions do and some regions don't but I agree that it can give an unrepresentative view if just referring to different regions in the forum.

All R11 members get a monthly email noting what is up and coming and reporting on previous events.

Perhaps reference to the calendar on the (now much more accessible) main web site would provide a more accurate indication of what they are doing.

Of course, all PCGB members receive Porsche Post each month with full details of all regional events and membership also allows people to opt in to receive relevant personal regional and register emails.

Forum guests do miss out on these opportunities.

My advice to TTM would be - join the Club. If you genuinely get nothing out of it after a year or don't save more than your membership costs in discounts with partners then let me know and in 12 months time I'll give you a refund myself.

Well you can't say fairer than that .... Although, because TTM is from France, you may be paying up at the end of the year Rob. [;)] It will certainly be interesting to see how many Club discounts work over the Channel though.

The banter is worth more that the subs as far as I am concerned, but if you want to refund mine Rob I not complain!

Cheers,

no Porsche post received here yet..I can't remember when i renewed but I'm pretty sure it was more than a month ago? in fact i had forgotten all about the mag which i used to enjoy many years ago... no big deal, i'm sure it will arrive eventually...:)

Pete

Pete, please ring Club office on 01606 652911. Ask for Jade or Chris Seaward. They will happily check that your membership application has been processed correctly. If you have not received this month's Porsche Post, we do have a supply of additional copies at Cornbury House and I'm sure the Team will happily send you the most recent edition.

I will email them now to let them know to expect your call.

Any difficulties, please email me directly - regional@porscheclubgb.com

thank you for your help Rob...I won't contact them for now, to be honest I am trying very hard not to call companies for anything these days as I have mentioned before with other matters on this forum, it's my way of relieving stress which builds up pretty quickly these days for me when using the phone, doctors orders...'no more stress'...yeh right...lol I'm sure the mag will turn up eventually, i'm in no rush..

Many thanks for your help though, much appreciated....

Pete

Obviously filling the 944 with DERV was by way of relaxation then?

You need to take up playing Blues Peter. It works wonders for me. Imagine how impossible I would be otherwise.

yes that was a stressful night to say the least...at least it was V-power derv so i got part of it right....:)

That then gives a bad idea of what the club is up to, maybe the region managers or whatever they are called should be a bit more proactive ?

i agree that visiting children is a worthwhile cause and should be spoken about on here, surely that's what the forum is for, not just banter and technical issues

just thoughts

Cheers,

You get your money's worth for sure!

We should start charging per car, not per member!

From an earlier post by Rob....

"Of course, all PCGB members receive Porsche Post each month with full details of all regional events and membership also allows people to opt in to receive relevant personal regional and register emails. Forum guests do miss out on these opportunities."

The Regional Organisers are very proactive but don't all see the forum as the best way to promote the region as often few of their members frequent it. Porsche Post and the mass e mail system will get to all the members in their region though.

For your interest - from a previous visit[:)]

Uncertain about positioning photographs in my posts now. It seems no matter where the cursor is, the photo always ends up in the top left hand corner. Any ideas?

Regards,

Clive.

If using the upload image function, once uploaded click on it to insert in the post.

You can the put the cursor in front of it and type in text.

It's a bit of a pain that it also seems to retain the uploaded image below if you want to integrate it within the text.

Using an external image URL would avoid this and should place it relative to where you locate the URL link. IIRC.

Nope sorry I don't get it. This photo was inserted using the "insert image/edit" button and pasting the URL in the box but the picture moves with the text and I can't position it where I would like it in my post.

Regards,

Clive
