Mark/John,

I take your points chaps. However there are basically two identical - and very active - threads....both on the 944 forum.!

Jeff

I've merged the 2 threads in the 944 forum. (Well, I had to try it didn't I? [:D])

To be honest, this functionality should be really useful to the Moderators as we go forward - we always had loads of duplicate threads and merging them was not possible in the past. It'll mean a much cleaner forum with (hopefully) easier to find info.

Puts tin hat on, awaits the wrath of someone who wants separate threads and is really offended at the temerity of someone merging them...

I really want separate threads [:D]

Good spot, Mark. Merging threads would heve been useful quite a few times in the past.

This is only on the 944 forum as I was one of only a few fourm area moderators or Region/Register reps who posted in advance. I wonder why so may others didn't? [&o]

I guess we could move it to the "general" forum, but it seems most people have picked up on it here.

Mark,

Example of the character.

12tH July – Sunday Regional Concours at Porsche Centre Kendal . This will be run to PCGB’ Street Concou..

Cheers,

I've skipped through 5 pages of this thread so apologies if it has been covered but unread posts and posts since last visit are two different things

I shudder think how large unread posts will be in a few months since I doubt anyone reads all posts

They looked at posts since last visit read ones of interest and ignored others

Post since last visit is limited to the last <however many> posts. So it won't get any bigger.

Personally I think I'll find it good when I return from holidays etc, when I often didn't manage to catch up when it was just "Posts since last Visit" - at some point it would time out and I'd lose reading half the stuff I had missed.

However people like to browse, there are several options at the bottom of the page when you select any of the ways to view, so everyone should surely be able to browse how they want (or darn near it!)

We do however need a 'Mark all read' at the top level

I'm not sure ASP Playground has that option [:(]

Yep, it does, but it's called 'Mark Forum Read' (Example):

It's taken me until now to get sorted - it's like coming back off holiday to find that your house has been redecorated and a family of cats has moved in.

Which is a good thing? [8|]

It still doesn't work for me. I stand by my original comment and will add that some people are not doing the work they are paid for. This is taking the piss.

Farewell pcgb... [:(]

Paid by whom? As a guest of the Club you aren't paying anybody so making such a comment is a bit rich.

As it happens (as is generaly the case with PCGB) the majority of the work is done by volenteers for no other reason than to enhance the enjoyment of other enthusiasts. OK the new format may have some issues but how do you think the hard working volenteers feel when you have a hissy fit because you don't like it?

It is a forum. It continues to function as a forum and all that was here previously remains. Image handling is greatly enhanced and, generaly, in the formats I am using it, it is better across multiple platforms (although there are a few glitches to resolve).

Saying you are going because you don't like it is akin to leaving your favourite Pub (or Bar) because they changed the wall paper and put in some comfy chairs.

Have to agree with everything you've said John.

Once again, a big thanks to the volunteers who've put in so much effort - and continue to do so - updating the forum for the benefit of us all: Members and Guests.

Jeff

Well said John.

There are members of the DMP Team who have donated all of their spare time and then plenty more on top for the wider benefit of the Club and its 13000 members. The new website and forum is a credit to them all - and that's just the shop window for the extraordinary amount of work that went on with the IT structure behind the scenes.

Well done all of you and thank you.
