Nick, that's fantastic. All looks far less "spaced out" than before. I think it'll make a big difference, especially on the phones. [:)]

You're lucky. They seemto have given me a gender change.

They have also removed 4,000 or more posts in my profile.

Geoff

Geoff you have mail [:)]

No Mark you cannot correct your 'Home Region' yourself. You can only 'Subscribe' to additional Regions.

To change your 'Home Region' requires someone at CH or a Website Admin (not forum) to do this for you.

In this case for Peter aka PSH I have fixed this for you.

btw Peter welcome back to London [:)]

While we're on that subject... it took me 4 years, countless emails, cancelling my membership subscription and finally a threat to leave the club altogether to get Cornbury House to move me out of Southern Region and into Thames Valley.

Now this damned forum software has put me back into Southern. And yes, the forum software did it. I went to change some preferences in my profile and saw the "Home Region" field change from "Thames Valley" to "Southern" when I clicked "save" on those other details. To say I am "annoyed" is something of an understatement. Please put me back into Thames Valley before I have to threaten to resign from the club again! [;)]

yes Glen i had the same problem..Nick kindly fixed it for me...i also have an issue with my signature...can't change anything in that section due to only having 3 characters in my ID..yes i know I'm logged in with 3 but evidently the system doesn't allow it...lol Paul did say to report it to support but to be honest i'm a little anti support of any description right now...having had arguments with SKY, BT and the bank I just can't be bothered with anymore....perhaps when i'm of a calmer nature I'll get around to it....one day....:)

hope your region is fixed soon....:)

Pete

Line spacing now much better, as is line length on my PC screen (full width now), so we progress.

I also note that, on the Forum drop-down menu, there is now "Latest Posts"!!

We are getting there with the snags; of note subscriptions still aren't working for everyone but the support guys are looking at this.

a question....I've just been exploring my profile and forum a little to get a better understanding of what's what and note that it has me as R21 Chiltern region????? not sure where that came from, ?I'm most certainly in London area and was always R20 in the past?

Pete
No idea, but the great thing is that you can now correct this yourself [:)]

Oh,

I remembered that being part of the requirements. Oh well...

Pete, it's a little bit unfair to suggest you won't report things to the PCGB support team as you've had issues with BT and Sky. We aren't perfect, but we are all people you could drop in to the office tomorrow morning and talk to face-to-face.

Real people are behind the forum, most of them unpaid volunteers. Not your usual BT off-shore call centre, so just pick the phone up and get to know the Club staff!

How do you see what region you've been allocated? I know this is an issue around London and the south east, as the original division wasn't on a geographical basis, but trying to spread out the huge number of Porsche owners around the home counties. I have no idea what region I am in....[8|]

Try 'My profile' and then 'Contact preferences' ...you'll find it there, or should..:)

Pete

Nice thing about the reduced waste of space, thanks.

I would like to improve this further by not seeing the signatures, is this doable? Some other forum formats allow users to choose if they want to display signatures.

Also it seems that the interline space remains huge in quotes?

Agree with Simon - acres of wasted space and the important stuff - posts - are too small.....
My point exactly, but big signatures don't help much ;)

Those big quotes are not really needed either.

But then, often, the size of the post is not dictated by the quotes, or the signatures, but by the left hand information panel.

Space is a funny thing and having things too cramped can make them less clear than too spread out.

During trials, and even this week, aspects of excessive space have been addressed. I rather like it now.

How about removing the panel with the avatar, is that kind of content really needed?

It takes quite a bit of room too.

You could certainly remove the joined date, location, status and yes the stars.

A picture, total posts and whether you are a member or guest is all that is needed. That would reduce the space used by that panel by half.

Another thread suggested looking at the amount of space used under the avatar. Good suggestion and my input would be remove the joined date, location, status and the stars. A picture, total posts and whether you are a member or guest is all that is needed. The space used by that panel would shrink by half.
