GTS 4.0

A lot to consider..far more than I thought for just an oil and filter change.

I also liked the fact that my old M3 had an oil change by 1200 miles, so really wanted to do the same.

Maybe my OPC will honour me with a return call.....wishful thinking I fear😡

I support what BMW do for their M models, engine and differential oil changes at 1200 miles

BMW M engines have a special light weight oil for the initial 1100 mile running in period. This oil isn’t suitable for high engine speeds which is why the post running in oil change is essential. A car that hadn’t had the 1100 mile oil change can’t be sold as an Approved Used car.

Well this was the case back in the day of the e46 M3 anyway.

"Doesn't the OBC data logger record the "resetting" of the "oil level" or terminology to that effect as this requires the use of the Porsche software?"

I am going to call my Indi today to ask about this and if there is any way Porsche can tell if the oil and filter has been changed.

I know you are supposed to be able to have your car serviced at any VAT registered garage as long as the correct oil and filter has been used, but knowing Porsche, if the engine detonated itself for any reason, I could see then trying to find a way out of having any responsibility.

Is it really worth it for an early oil change🤔

My Indi, confirms there is no way Porsche can tell an oil/filter change has been done unless they reset the service indicator.

Step closer. Collection a week on Saturday.

Well, after 18 months of waiting, I've finally got a build slot for my Boxster GTS 4.0, with delivery due mid-June. I threw a hissy fit last week when signposted by a standard email to My Porsche last week, only to find my car was about to start production (nobody had told me direct) and to then see that my preferred colour of Aventurine Green was no longer available as standard and that prices had gone up another £5k or so!

However, it seems I'm still down for MY23 which, in time-honoured Porsche fashion, I can't actually view myself online now. Hopefully one day they'll get their act together with the configurator? I was about to cancel my order altogether, as I was particularly annoyed about a fourth price hike since ordering and also wasn't prepared to pay for 'Paint To Sample' (special colours) on principle, as I think its a blatant rip-off.

With just a few days left to crystallise the order, I went to OPC Bournemouth today and we managed to firm up my preferred spec (at the old prices), although the one option that we aren't yet sure will be available is LED lights. As I'm not having any dealer finance / options (other than boot liners) and will be getting other add-ons elsewhere including a quality ceramic coating, it will be interesting to see if they do offer a decent part-ex on my current GR Supra. They took details and photos today, but I shouldn't have a problem selling it somewhere else, as I am constantly getting people coming up to me to ask about it and saying how much they like it.

How totally frustrating. Paint To Sample is now no longer available on 718 even if you were prepared to pay for it.

Congratulations, it will be worth the 20 month wait. What colour have you finally decided on?

Are Bournemouth your local OPC?

They are mine and I am not surprised you are disillusioned with their communication. They were terrible at their old facility and had improved considerably when they moved to the new centre, but alas any form of communication has deteriorated yet again. They look after 2 of my Porsche cars, now a new one but can I even get them to respond to several telephone calls to get a service booking request😡

They have some good people but alas seem to be experiencing an exodus of sales, service and warranty personel which is a worry.

If you are Bournemouth based I can give you the contact details of a super detailer who ceramic coated my BGTS 4.0, based in Poole.

Car landed at the dealers today. Please could somebody advise me the easiest way to upload pictures to this site.

Probably best to use flikr or something similar and go to the full version editor when uploading. It does give you some instructions.

Looking forward to seeing the new car.

Great news Glenn, looking forward to the reveal.

Photographs are a bit of a minefield on here, I quite often copy from Facebook but you can put links to images from hosting sites.

Thanks for your reply. Bournemouth is indeed my local centre and I was able to keep Aventurine Green at no added cost, as they can still configure on the ‘old’ spec and prices for MY23. it would be good to check out the ceramic option in Poole - I’ve been looking at GleamPro in Three Legged Cross, who are Ceramic Pro dealers. They have done a few Porsches before and offer a Lifetime option based on 4 coats of 9H and a water repellent top coat that is topped up annually. It will take at least 2 days to do the work
