GTS 4.0

I saw that too - I've been playing around with the configurator this week and the car I spec'ed on Monday was suddenly well over £80K yesterday !

I kept checking and rechecking to see if I'd accidentally selected options that had pushed the price up so much.

Still no idea whether I will get to order my own build but having fallen completely in love with my current 4ltr GTS, I won't be too upset and will just wait and see what Porsche announce for the replacement...
How do you feel it compare to your old GTS?

I've done just that. Ordered my new 4.0L BGTS in July 21 and was told by OPC to expect delivery Dec 21 or Jan 22! Hah, as if! Early in 22 it became clear that I was probably not going to see a car until sometime in 23, so in April 22 bought a very low mileage high spec 4.0 BGTS with the intention of keeping it until the new one came through. Advised late Jan this year that I had a March build slot but came to the conclusion that apart from giving the dealer / government a pile of cash there was nothing to be gained by taking up the offer, and probably with the ongoing shortages I'd end up with a lesser spec than I have, so turned it down and am sticking with my current 4.0L. No regrets at all.

Yesterday was collection day.

A train journey from Dorset via London to Cambridge in beautiful sunshine gave me time to ramp up the excitement level from 9.9 to xxxxxxxxx!

Cambridge OPC were superb, the car looked stunning once the uncovering ceremony took place, I just love the colour so much better in real life to the photos.

Some nice gifts, an umbrella, coffee flask and wine stopper.

But the journey home even keeping the car between 2.5 and 3.5k revs was just superb. Collected a frunk liner from an associate in Bracknell and went cross country most of the way home 240 miles in all.

All I can say for those waiting for their new cars to come through...OMG this machine is stunning, I just can't believe how good it looks and drives, what an upgrade from the 981. Even the sound is better than expected. As for the18 way seats, I found a perfect driving position immediately, without being at the extreme of any of the positions, just have to play with the bolsters and lumber a bit, but I just can't see what the You Tube video was complaining about. My neighbour who is also a Porsche man and joined me on the trip, said it was the most comfortable seat he has sat in!

Busy day today but will try to upload some photos soon.

Again to all those waiting, you will not be dissapointed!

So chuffed for you. Hopefully I've not got too long now to wait - probably another 3 or 4 weeks.

Fantastic - looking forward to seeing the photos.

I am blown away by the driving experience - so much so that I'm struggling to answer your earlier question re my old 981 GTS v my 718 GTS 4l.

For a start, the 981 was PDK and the 718 is a manual. I never really got on with the auto boxes in my fast Audi's or in the 981 - convenient yes, but I prefer the engagement of the manual and I am getting used to the 'long' gearing

I'm going to try the PDK at the experience centre later this month so that will be an interesting comparison albeit in a controlled environment.

Great news and congrats on your new toy. Looking forward to seeing the pictures. Lucky you've got 2 great driving days to put some miles on.

Has anyone noticed the weird rear diffuser on the GTS in the configurator??

I reckon that's an image glitch as that's where the 981 exhausts used to be isn't it - it also looks like the configurator has a completely new look.....

I've just had a play and the wheels on the Boxster 4ltr image are satin platinum as standard but when you select that in the wheel colour selector, they change to satin black ?

Fortunately the rear diffuser does not look anything like this, in fact it's gorgeous especially in gloss black.

Really just wondering how you find the engine and exhaust tone as you are not running in?

I have another 1500 miles before I can really play, but am pleasantly surprised even now. I did take my 981 out yesterday though, for a run and fill up before she potentially departs on Saturday, first time this year........oh that exhaust tone😢

I'm sat at around 7500 miles and the exhaust note is much deeper than when I was breaking in. There is a mod you can do which was posted on Rennlist that keeps the exhaust valves open after 2000rpm. A cheap mod that costs about £7 and you can adjust it to suit. I did mine yesterday and have noticed a slight flutter on idle when the valves are 'closed' so need to tweak it a little when the rain stops.

Here's the link to the Rennlist mod best read from post 134

My car had 3000 miles on it when I picked it up last December and I've done around 900 miles since.

With the weather improving I've had to the top down a bit and whilst the 718 isn't as dramatic as the 981, it does make a lovely deep noise which rises as the revs climb and, in Sport mode the auto-blip is very addictive.....

Porsche app is still showing vehicle scheduled for production, but OPC is saying car has been built and is in a compound at Emden in Germany, with most of the VW group cars.

They can not tell me when I will see the the car, and have had cars that have taken months to come.

My car as been pushed back to May at my detailers for PPF and ceramic coating, which is the 3rd change

It is now 2 years from paying my deposit.

Mine (Cayman GTS) spent about 10-14 days at Emden. Arrived in the UK last Thursday, dealers sometime this week perhaps?

It'll turn up when it's ready. Original build allocation was for December (2022) with delivery February, so 8-10 weeks behind schedule.

The Porsche app has been fairly useless, always at least 2 weeks behind what my dealer has been forwarding to me.

You really are having a challenging time Glenn with your order.

I can't believe your OPC isn't able to give you some form of indicator as to when this is likely to get shipped.

Mine was completed in March and shipped immediately, could it be they are waiting for something in the spec you have ordered?
