I Think I Have Killed My Car!!!!

Glad you have got your money back Phil.

However it is one in the eye for all the abusive posters I received for saying this was my experience of insurance companies ie. fair.

Perhaps some of the 'attitude' displayed by those same posters comes through in their life generally, with the familiar negative effects.

The Crow.

Phil, if your hood is in good condition then I know that Mike Bowring on Titanic is looking for one. He missed a new one on ebay last week which went for £300

As noted previously, I could be up for the seats.

I'm assuming they are the "sports" version with big side bolsters. As a question - "Will the rear seats from a Cabrio fit a Coupe ?

No, cabrio rear seats are totally different - the backs at least.

How desperate are you for sports interior? You want linen leather, don't you? My Turbo drivers seat is a bit worn but I can take a picture to let you see it if you like, the rest of mine are pretty good. I guess I could pull mine out sooner rather than later, not that I'm trying to steal your business away from Phil!

I'm not sure how keen I am to sell just the rear seat on its own.

A bit "Off Thread" but, my car currently has beige Porsche logo fabric (is it linnen or is it just beige?). I like the colour as it makes the interior much brighter and far less claustrophobic than the black of my previous 944.

Unfortunately, the fabric has seen better days (as you would expect), although aside cracked piping on the passenger seat back is in pretty good condition for an 87 car. Leather, however, does give a feeling of oppulance as well as being far more servicable. In short, one way or another, re-face or re-place, in the fullness of time, leather it must be! It's not something I gagging to do before Christmas, per say, it's just the next big job lined up for the car. So, I hold myself ready for when "the right product becomes available at the right price".

Whilst I'm not necessarily looking for immaculate seats (and potentialy door cards as well), I would want seats in a condition that I'm not constantly thinking about having them re-covered, otherwise I might just as well have my current seats re-skinned. But then again, if the price is right, it could be a stop gap?

In summary - shows me what you've got, and tell my what you want, I'm ready to think about a deal.

I'll give it some thought then.

My door cards are blue and linen (and the rear quarters are all blue), which would look quite spectacularly bad in a black car, so there is a good excuse to keep them [:D]

To be honest you'd probably be better recovering your current seats if they are sports type - a job I have planned for the future in my cab (which is quite unusual in having sports seats) and I think costs about £500 if you fit the covers yourself. While I wouldn't suggest I'd be looking for £500 for mine, I need to get something reasonable to fund a Sparco replacement set, and I suspect that ultimately you'd want to get them recovered anyhow, though you might get away with just the driver's one, and you still need a 'leatherette' rear seat. Mine is a single piece backrest, which I expect is the same as your car and the blind is good, but is blue, so you won't want it either.

I also have a close-on immaculate linen boot carpet (covered since new I think) but I don't know that I want to run a bare boot floor just yet.

Ok Guys and Girls, here we go!

The hood was damaged in the accident, so unfortunately, it is no good, but the machanism is fine.

The seats are the sports style seats, which were fantastic as the drivers one kept me safe in a sideways impact! Cream leather and electric, but not heated.

with the exception of the front end, offside wing and bonnet, the rest of the body panels are fine. The electric/heated mirrors work well.

The jewel in the crown has to be the engine!! I had the head rebuilt earlier this year and had a recinditioned bottom end, effectively making it a "newly reconditioned full engine" This was done at a cost in excess of £3k and is a 3.0 litre 16v S2 engine.

There are 17inch cup alloys on the car, but the front offside one was damaged beyond repair in the accident. All 4 were completely refurbished 14 months ago and are in great condition.

The rear wheels both have Avons on and were new this time last year. I have only done about 8,000 miles on them and for those of you that know me, I do not push my car too hard, so there is still pleanty of tread.

I hope this helps guys.

Cheers

Phil

Hi Helen

I am waiting to hear about buying it back, but if there is enough interest, I probably will to break it and then scrap what I can't sell.

Regards

Phil

Hi Phil,

You may remember, I bought your "old" engine earlier this year. I really need to buy your front seats, mine are completely cream-crackered, and I have been looking eveywhere for some cream leather ones. Also, would the Cab door cards fit a Coupé. Please get in touch.

Cheers,

Andy Letts

Cab door cards fit the coupe - you just need to keep the coupe rubber strip along the top as the cab ones have a cutout for the quarterlight frame.

Keep up the cream leather comments - ups the stock on mine [:D]

Hello guys.

I am about to start a new thread, as I need to see if it is viable to "buy back" my S2 Cab for breaking.

What I need to know is what parts people are interested and what they would be prepared to pay.

What I need is people to e-mail me off forum.

One thing to remember is that the engine was completely rebuilt including a full head rebuild, effectively a completely reconditiuoned engine with less than 3,000 miles on it!!

Keep in touch guys.

Regards

Phil
