insurance

It's not bad if they're coming to your house.

I had the same last year (through AON), and got one for £107, but I had to take the car in to get it.

It was a Cobra something or other - make sure you get the CAT2 certificate - you need to send a copy of this to your insurer.

Also make sure that they fully disconnect and remove the old immobiliser (if it has one) as it can interfere and cause problems in years to come

Reading through the pages from Adrian Flux I received, I came across this page which I thought may be of interest to some.

but they require a Cat 2 immobiliser on my beloved.

Thanks.

On the phone I'm sure they kept saying Cat 2. But on policy requirements paperwork Cat 1 is required. Which I do have.
Maybe best to check again to clarify only because if you are going to fork out to have one installed you might as get the 'required' one fitted.

Thanks flamingeye (don't get me paranoid, whatever you do! [;)]) Just phoned Flux again, and they insisted it's only a Cat 2 they require - but thanks for the heads up...

I always use this site:

http://www.insuresupermarket.com/motor/

It's saved me a fortune over the years.

Thankyou James ~ just reinsured using the above site (insuring via Sainsbury's) and saved £150, whilst going from a classic 5K PA policy to an "approx 8K PA" policy. [8D]

And this policy allows me to park in the drive at night (the classic policy insisted the car was locked in the garage overnight - which could occasionally be a problem, and you were always conscious the car wasn't covered! ) [&:]

I've had quotes for 4 different cars in the past year - the best quote has always been from Heritage Classic..it's worth to try - just fill in some details online and you'll get a quote in 5 minutes max.

Adrian Flux quoted me £1100 with an agreed value of £12k for the car and £10k for the engine (which I thought was pretty good)

Nowhere else would insure the engine as a seperate entity but Classicline would give me a higher agreed value of £14k for a premium of £380. I live in an urban, fairly high risk area

Bear in mind Tom that if you put a 3.0 turbo in the car there are not many insurers who will cover you. Flux is one that will and you may save more by going with them now and beign able to change the policy than going with a cheapie and having to cancel and go elsewhere.

Have found Lancasters to be pretty good - shifted to them from Carole Nash.

They have been very good with the various mods on my car so may well be worth a look for anyone in a similar position.
