Lowered 944s and shattered ball joints

ORIGINAL: Peter Empson

Btw, my 19mm Rennbay track GCK is on its way already and should be here on Friday. Mighty impressive service!

I wouldn't put money on it. I am still waiting for mine.

Hi John,
Just out of interest what shipping rate did you go for? I paid $90 extra to make sure they'd be here on time, but you've got me a bit worried now.

Hi Dave,
My garage RPM Porsche in Cheddington are doing all the work for me, if I were to get involved it'd take weeks and the wheels would all fall off when it was lowered onto the ground [:)]

He gave me a few options and I chose the dearest as I didn't want it to slow down the rebuild.

Fingers crossed it might just make it to Bedford next weekend.

$90 !! [] What's he doing, bringing them himself. No I didn't pay that, so you might be OK.

I chose the $200 option when I ordered my MAF from Vitesse and I had it in my hand three days later. I think they used a very fast aeroplane that destroyed several layers of the ozone at the same time [&o]

Yes, it's an incentive to pay the extra shipping charges when you see things like that container ship grounded off the coast of Cornwall with beach combers running off with your Porsche parts!

I thought that the aftermath of 9/11 when all aircraft were grounded the climate's temp increased by 1 degree. It seems to me that if you want to combat global warming fly more!!

I chose the UPS option on the last shipment from EBS racing and that was $200 too. Also turned up in a couple of days, but the price served me right for being disorganised and leaving it to the last minute [:'(]

Just heard my Rennbay kit has turned up at home this morning as promised [:D]

Still waiting for mine, and that was dispatched a week ago. [:(] But then postage only cost me $7.00 [:D]

$7! Blimey... [:)]
So you're planning on fitting them in 2008 then? :ROFLMAO:

Act in haste, repent at your leisure. :ROFLMAO:

I haven't had the wishbones shot blasted yet, or sorted out the bushes, so $90 would have been a waste.

Now, because someone posted a reference to the Racers Edge site [], I'm pondering Racers Edge ARB bushes.

Lol, I have to admit I'm tempted by their billet Aluminium hubs too. Drool.[8D]

Guess what I got through the door today [:D] . Now what can I spend the $83 I saved on. [:)]

Still not decided on the suspension though. If I go with Ledas the option I want is pretty much KW money. A four week wait isn't enthusing me either. That puts it all very close to the Donnington track day [] and I want some time to shake it down before that.

I could go cheap skate again and get Koni inserts but I'm not sure what struts I have currently.

Such choices. [8|]

Lol!

Oh well, that's damn fine service on both counts! Seems like a bit of a false expense in hindsight as I'm getting doubtful that the car will be ready for Bedford now [:(]

As for your spare funds, all donations are welcomed for the 'adding the fourth wheel on to XTM' fund [;)]

John,

I am about to order some kit off Leda and may be able to get some discount for you. No promises but I get trade prices due to the amount of kit I have bought over the years! I could even ask if we could get a hurry up on them too. Would you want them set up at Leda? They can do your set up and corner weights at the same time
Email mail me if I can help!

Cheers
Tom

Thanks Tom - you have mail.

Spookily, the option I would go for from Leda is almost exactly the same price as I would pay Demon Tweeks for KW's.

Leda is more convenient (aside the initial wait), and will no doubt provide far better after sales service with subsequent modifications (assuming I wanted such) but I think KW's have a higher residual value.

The other option is just to fit strut inserts which, in comparison, is spectacularly cheap. I have Koni adjustables at the rear and a 968 M030 adjustable ARB so I could still do some balancing.

I hate being indecisive. I like to get on and do these things.... particularly when the clock is ticking.

Hmmmmmm, Tony, Peter and Dave M have Leda and all of them have said they'd go for KW if they had their time again (admittedly Dave went M030, but I think that was a cost thing). Lots and lots of people have KW and to my knowledge every single one of them is delighted with it.
