944man, what wheels and tyre sizes did the kit allow you to upgrade to, and what year model is your car? My guess is that you have large spacers to run those wheels and extra trackwidth, no?
The car belongs to the user rickware, not to me. I have 7.5" and 9"s though... []
The badge panel was the original with the ovals cut and then repainted. It's still somewhere in the UK as I sold it on (sorry but I have sold s many bits of that car I can't remember to who, but it was in the north west as I dropped it off on my way to see my Mum). The car now has a Lindsey stage 5 header on it which I like for the snarling lip effect (but I can't find any pics of it right now).
The engine came from a 2007 series competitor who was switching to S2 power for 2008 to move down a class and be more competitive. It was built by Strasse but I don't know what has been done internally - I expect balancing at the very least. It's a lot more standard than the one I had in before (stock turbo and uses both a distributer and DME ECU) but it still has air-con and PAS delete. It makes a claimed 290-300bhp with basically a remap and dual port wastegate.
The intent was to have the car running and MoTd in time to sell at the start of the track day season (I actually picked the engine up in a hired Transit just before Christmas), but without my being there to chivvy along it hasn't happened.
What I'd really like to do now is sell the engine on again (it would go fine on the road, it just needs the bracket to allow an a/c compressor and a PAS pump bolted on, and it came via Simon Butterworth who verified it running before removing it) and then ship the rolling chassis over here where I could tuck it away in the garage until such time as I trip over a rear-ended Holden HSV [].
Perhaps it's close enough to fitted that it could be driven in my car, but the problem was putting a lot of the necessary standard stuff back in it to use the original ECU and ignition (the Autronic and CDI ignition is in my garage), and I have zero enthusiasm for the thing running a less powerful version of the stock engine which I find myself liking less and less as time goes by.

Alright Rick if that's your 944 then we need to meet up some time Pal , Because I like the creation you have made , looks really track side tackle but demands respect on the road ! Hope it is backed up by some poke under the bonnet Pal ! I have made some moods to my 944T . Have fitted some Jasmine rear spacers pumping the 10inch BBS rims with 265 /35 /18 to the very limit , but I think it looks nice and fat on the rear ! Also got the US rear number plate look and the rear Turbo reflector from 944online in the US , it lights up on the side lights , keep up the good work best regards J
Whoopsy. That'll teach me to post after a night out. I'd still be interested in what his wheel and tyre details are though? Having big spacers on the front is not always a good idea.ORIGINAL: 944 man

also looking to upgrade the turbo to a variable vane as have massive boost at 4000 revs but then drops off at 5000 revs to quickly at full boost. would welcome suggestions if anyone has any ideas."
EDH, what turbo are you thinking of?? It strikes me that this is one area where the 951 is let down by 20 yr old technology and, if you can get it to fit, this would make a lot of difference!

Hold your horses. The 997 turbo is the first and currently only petrol engined car in the world to have variable vane turbo's, and they cost about £6k each. The problem is the high exhaust temps of petrol engines meaning some pretty exotic material that are difficult to manufacture needing to be used. It will be some time before these things are cost effective for us guys.
I've always wondered about a twin-spool arrangement twin turbo - a bit like a large commercial airliner engine, to provide you with a small and a large turbo that wouldn't take up much more space than a normal turbo.

I'm not after a turbo, I was just quoting from Rick's post. When the time comes for me to replace, I'll be on the phone to SimonP for one of his custom jobs []

There isn't much on the web for modified 944's which is something I've greatly enjoyed doing over the last few years with mine. Can others post theirs so I can get an idea of what else can be done.

Rick; Im about to buy a rollcentre cage and I would be very interested to hear about your experience dealing with them and any thoughts that youd care to share.
I would also be extremely grateful if you would post some pictures of the installation/features: especially the hoop top area where the front section connects.
Thank you.
Simon
