My Turbo might be for sale!

Its all about fun at the end of the day, everything else is just getting from A to B with as little fuss as possible. You only live once

My motto is (and always has been) "drive what you like"

There`s a certain type of envy/anger/aggresion out there towards kit/classic/hobby cars etc but it all comes from those in mundane`os etc who would love to do the same but cant afford to or darent.

EG: a very good mate of mine always drives as new a car that he can afford. He states that as he is a mechanical numpty he doesnt want to break down or have repair bills however the depreciation each year on his car and the losses when sold through dealer servicing (dealer everything) and consumeables etc is at least £2000+. I have been pointing out to him regularly over the years that you can get an awful lot of work done for £2000+ per year and get to enjoy and drive a car you REALLY like that probably wont depreciate - it doesnt get through though [&o]

True, the philosophy only works if you buy something like a Focus on a heavy discount and do 200K miles in it then throw it away. On the more fancy stuff the dealer servicing alone is killer. I have a mate with a C220 that stunned me when it turned out it has cost him more each year then either of my Porsche's. He hates MB now for this but the costs can be eyewatering, he pays a fair chunk every year for the extended warranty but has had to do loads of stuff outside the warranty. ISTR the figures added up to nearer 2K PA not including depreciation. And this on a snore box like a C220!

Woah! The C220 is no snorebox - certainly not the current one - 170hp in a very nice chassis can be good fun when you're in the mood!

OK, well, erm I seem to be the owner of 2 Porsches, albeit temporarily!

Did the deal on the 964 yesterday afternoon, down at RPM.

Btw Messrs Empson and McNulty, I had the pleasure of seeing both of your cars down there yesterday, VJ looking slightly forlorn without its door mirrors and the white beast looking absolutely fantastic and very, very white!

Nice bunch of guys down there too.

Congratulations Nick!
I'm with Ian, this thread is now useless without pics.

Oh is that where it's gone [:D] Should be getting it back later on, all ready for Sunday.

Yep, I'll be getting her back next week and then it's get it sold. [&o]

I decided after driving Peter's S to Cornbury house that the extra vision from the proper mirrors was worth the sacrifice in looks, so rather than swapping the mirrors onto the new one I used them in the deal. They're going on one or RPM's track cars. Same thing with the number plate, I like the new car's reg showing it's age so the VJ plate is staying on her.

...you'll miss that adrenalin kick from the turbo

What's first on the agenda with 964? New Bilstein Cups or you going for KWs? [;)]

Yes,their "man" in a van was there with his Farecla cream polishing up the rectangular mirrors prior to them refitting them to VJ & Peter,I agree with Nick, your car was "very"[8D] white-I think you need to tighten up the bolts on the spoiler otherwise it will rattle in the wind giving you variable downforce.[:)]

Lol, you should try cleaning it when the sun's out, took me ages for my eyes to recover on Monday, think I need to wear sunglasses in future [:)]

Colin.

Those bolts are temporary [:)] (like most things on the car at the moment), but they are great for ripping your hands to shreds if you forget they're sticking out when washing the spoiler.

It's already got KW V3s fitted - done about 5000 miles on them.

Mmmmmm [8D] I didn't realise it was an RPM car. Knowing the way Darren and Oli prepare their cars means it will be very well sorted.

Lucky, lucky man (but at least a slower car is easier for you to control now [;)] )

I hope this glorious 944 will find a good new home.

Good luck with the beetle [:)]

Well it's red ... I guess.

Slightly stuck for something to say. "All the best" I suppose.

Something tells me you'll be back ....

Oli.

Me like [:D]
I think I may have drooled over this car when it was at RPM (sorry).
I think the wheels really make it stand out. You have a double garage, I can't see any reason not to keep both the 964 and 944T :ROFLMAO:

Looks nice. Love the black satin effect wheels. If the lack of boost starts to bother you Ninemeister do a supercharger kit!!
