New members welcome and photos

Hi, Newbe here. Totally new to Porsche ownership as of three weeks ago when I bought my 2008 C4S from a mate who was making some room in his "stable". As i didn't have the OPC experience, is there anything specific to the 997 that I should be aware of? The car currently has covered 23k miles in its 3.5 year lifespan, but I plan to use the car for a daily commute so I guess the average mileage will increase. I live on the outskirts of the New Forest and my nearest OPC is Bournemouth. How do they rate?? Here is a pic following an post christmas wash and wax....

You'll be due the four year service shortly (expect to pay £800-1000 for that at OPC prices). You'll find lots of info on the forums and scaremongers with engine problems, but at that age and mileage you shouldn't have that much to worry about I'd have thought. Good color choice :)
 
Hi Mark, Welcome to Porsche ownership. I hope you'll have many safe years of Porsche motoring. Looks like a fine car. I particularly like the alloy-section door mirrors and turbo wheels. Let us have the full spec. sometime. First thing to do is join the Porsche Club (PCGB). There are many benefits, but includes discounts at most Porsche Centres and the chance to take part in some of the excellent events the 997 Register will be running in 2012. As you're in the West Country I've no doubt we'll meet up at some stage. I believe Bournemouth PC are enthusiastic and generally good sorts, but no doubt Geoff will be along to fill in the details soon. ATB. Clive.

Richard, looks stunning in that colour, I've not seen a Turbo in that yet [8D] Mark, We'll be going through the new forest on July 20th [;)] for a register get together and run out.. I've heard the Bournemouth OPC do look after their clients and offer the 10% club discount. garyw
 
Thanks All! Yes it is indeed amethyst, LM4Z - it's one of the 'special' colours - i.e. it's in the brochure but is extra extra cost. I believe amethyst was done in the 80s also, although a different paint code. When I described to the wife that my prospective car was 'purple' she wasn't too keen! However, in the flesh, and the initial photo captures it quite well, it is everything between almost black and almost violet. Difficult on a monitor to get a good rendition, but maybe this one shows the underlying violet better...

Hi and welcome, very nice colour,we went backwards and forwards for a few days between that colour and the blue we chose when ordering ours , in the end it was the colours of the interiors that forced our hand. Great cars you will enjoy. Steve

Hi Guys It's been a while. Some of you older folk may recall my Martini Turbo from when Kay and I ran the Kent Region. That was almost 10 years ago, now we are back. So not really new members, rather resurrected, this time with an extra turbo. Paul Dennis.
