New Turbo: took the plunge!

Personally, just meeting up for a nice countryside lunch somewhere and a bit of a drive all together would be great. Nothing pacey, just a sight to be seen having a few new Turbos in procession. Tricky bit will be getting a sunny day!!

According to the Turbo pic thread on the 911 Turbo board there should be at least 11 of us PCGB 997 Turbo drivers. So would be good to get a few guys together to swap stories.

Hey, did any of you get a luxury club day as part of your Turbo purchase? I got some trial day vouchers to Stoke Park Club, which from the brochures looks stunning. Can't wait to go!! [:D]

Blimey Alex the wheels look fantastic you must be thrilled !

There are actually over 40 997 Turbos on the register just now !

Glad the car is living up to expectations - don't think I've seen anyone take quite so much care and attention to detail when ordering as you have. Congrats.

Ref - Pie & a Pint (of shandy)
Good idea - can we try if poss, to make it more North than South?
Cheers

I'm not normally a fan of after market wheels but I have to say this is the best looking 997TT I've seen to date. these definitely make the car look more aggressive.

Went and fitted new HRE wheels today. Lighter than stock and designed specifically for Porsches (even accommodating the TPMS sensors)

I kept the OEM wheels also, in case later I wish to revert. Some pics:

OK I'm sold!!!! where did you get the wheels from Alex? I'm in....

Thanks for all the compliments guys. Yes, she's surely is a beauty!!

OK, my 5 days of driving are now done. Managed to get up passed the 700 mile-mark. Lots to report, but little time to do so. Will try to give more feedback later in the week.

One thing I want to comment on was about the TPMS sensors. Since changing my wheels my right front (RF) tyre pressure keeps dropping 2-3psi compared to the left front (LF). Even if I align with the the local filling station air pressure pump then 2 mins later the RF has dropped again (watching the onboard computer as it does it).

I don't think I have a puncture and I have ruled out the sensor itself (as if I test immediately after putting in air then all are correct). So my guess is the new valve on the RF wheel is slightly loose. I have tightened a little but have been warned not to over tighten as this can cause damage. Hopefully tomorrow morning the two front tyres will be equal.

I also haven't managed to get up to 1.2bar Turbo pressure yet. 1.0 with sport on yes, but not 1.2. Hoping after the car is more run in then I will see this magic number!!

Other than that: AWESOME car!!!! [:D] [:D] [:D]

Nice one Alex!

Love the car!

how long before the remap ;-)

Hey Nick - unsure if I will do a remap now. Very hard to find anywhere on public roads to use the 480bhp I have now. If I do lots of track days next year then I might look at something. More likely though would be a +20bhp Tubi exhaust. But we shall see...

Hi Alex,
Congrats. on the new car - lookin' good! [:)]
Just 1 point, ensure your guys insert studs when removing your road wheels so as to avoid damaging the rotors. You wouldn't like the bill to replace a chipped one! []

Clive

Not sure what you mean Clive? Please can you ellaborate?!
With the brittleness of CC rotors, 2 opposing wheel bolts should be replaced with 2 studs before loosening off the remainder. This allows the wheel to be removed over the studs using them as a guide/support and ensures the edges of the rotor are not damaged. Replacement is obviously the reverse of this.
I only mentioned it because I didn't see the use of studs in your wheel-off photo.
Regards,
Clive

Yes, I seem to remember reading that ceramics are supplied with 2 studs, where the Steels only have the one supplied... (in the tool kit)

Don't know about studs but the Drivers Manual refers to 'assembly aids'. Is this what you are talking about?!
