Novice Track Evening Brands is Back 20th May!

ORIGINAL: nathan 1981 930 G50 Des, I saw the black lines in my video. They look very long [:D]
The lines [:D]

Perfectly staight, once I knew the game was up, it was straight wheel, an instant flash came to me about turning cars turning over in Gravel if you get it sideways on. All good now ....[:)]

Yes, it was probably the safest thing to do. I would probably have made an attempt to cut the corner getting the car to turn which may have ended up going sideays into the gravel. Are all 3 of those marks yours? Did you have the car at a slight angle at all?

These are the videos I took, start at the bottom to watch them in chronological order.

That's a great idea Des, I'd be honoured if it was used. Can you send a link of this thread to the right people to see what they think? I have the original, higher resolution here and can email it to them if they think it may be suitable.
I recommend you just email the JPG straight to the magazine, Nathan.

Thanks, I emailed it to publications@porscheclubgb.com Does anyone have Stephen Mummerys email address they could send me please? I failed to find it...

stephen@porscheclubgb.com look in Porsche File [;)] Some great video clips there. If you would like to send any to me on a silver beer mat, via Club office, we might be able to cut them into the DVD.

Sure, although I'm not sure the quality is good enough. They were only took with a Sony cybershot dsc-p120 3megapixel digital camera clamped onto a seat. Would you like them converted to raw avi or mpeg2 dvd style? Maybe you'd prefer them (unedited) just as they came from the camera in mpg? I left my Porschefile at work [:D] I'll forward the email to Stephen Mummery. Thanks John.

I'd like to thank everyone involved for an absolutely wonderful novice trackday. I'm a true novice, never been on a track before, and had butterflies as big as Labradors doing somersaults in my stomach whilst I was waiting in the pit lane for the first session. Once we got rolling the runs were even more exhilarating than I could possibly have dreamt off but driver safety and etiquette was superlative too. I would recommend the experience to anyone. My car, a poverty spec six-year-old Boxster 2.7 tip (plate FM03 XXX) would be nobody's first choice as a trackday weapon but it performed admirably, so if you don't have a Turbo, GT2, GT3 etc don't let that stop you - get out there, you will love it. Please Porsche Club GB, run another event like this soon!

Absolutely! I have chased both Boxsters and Caymans and, driven well, they can be a challenge to keep up with. Don't underestimate them.

Don't worry about the quality. I've seen the run off from Dave's bullet cam now and its isn't crystal so we will most likely be doing some picture in picture or similar to compress it. The on track elements are going to take a lot of editing but we have a fair amount to work with. If you would send me yours, unedited in its base format this should provide the least compression. If we can't work with that we will then go for a converted file. Dave is keen to get on to the first edit so as soon as you can get the material to me the sooner we can see if we can work it in.

Simon, I have been trying to build on this "Novice Session" and help put together a Novice + 1 ........... watch this space .......... don't worry your Boxster will keep up and pass most cars on the Indy! [:D]

I think I might have phrased that in a slightly different manner! I was absolutely stunned by the grip I was getting in my Boxster - I was certain we'd be off into the grass when twice I forgot to brake going into Graham Hill Bend! There's some visible scrub on my Pirellis P Zeros but nothing serious.

This sounds like a great idea, I'd sign up immediately. Thanks re the comment about the Boxster but I was further over towards the right than Nick Griffin on the straights with my indicator permanently on. And got passed more times than London tap water. More my inability than the car's though! Here are some photos I took during the event (I'm afraid my mind was more on the driving).

I'll send them asap to the club office as they came off the camera on a DVD as individual files.

Mel, I was getting ready for my first session (2nd group) when I saw your car on the trailer and I thought you were leaving. After completing my first session I saw your car on the track. After that I didn't see you or missed you when you came into the pits. I was quite looking forward to the ride. Your car looked superb on the track. Will you be doing the same at some other track day? Surinder

Melv Time between first and second runs was tight, and as I was in Group three there was no time after the second run. I could see you were off to the pub! I did get a few laps in the afternoon with Des (he was still steering round corners at that stage) Next time though? - and there will definitely be a next time! Thanks to everyone involved Jon

Yes such was the success, Three groups were needed .......... to be honest the Cup Car laps are nothing like a lap with Carreraboy![;)]

And, working for the council you would have to wear high vis vests [:D]
