OULTON PARK RS DAY 2014 IS GO!!

Steve, thought i would put it up to show just how bad it was[:D]which was a shame as i had a few good laps. It's going back , as i can't sort out the audio snyc. Think it would have been much better had i used the zoom function but you lose picture quality that way. If it wasn't for the sound issue i would persevere with it as it was a quarter of the price of the cheapest go pro. Reading on the net it might be possible to solve the audio issue with a higher spec Micro HD card but i could end up spending and not getting anywhere. Besides which i bought the camera and the card as a supposed pair so it "should" work ! Got a bit of time before Spa to reasearch a better alternative now. Kev , like the way your car went through cascades, odd corner that one. Never felt quite right for me.

This will interest you, shows the track hasn't changed too much! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LnMJflV5sA#t=106

Here is one of my videos - need to work on the resolution but still interesting shoot from the front tow hook - makes things look faster. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ec95kCTbFGo‎ ps: the sound is mostly wind noise.

Hi Laurence , with regard to onboard cameras , Steve/Boxsey used to source some 'keyfob spycams ' from Singapore with user guide written in ' Chinglish' ......cost in region of £8 each.....surprising picture quality but not very durable or adjustable. In the end we had to bite the bullet and go 'Gopro' ( Hero 2 ) ...way over 10X more expensive but you then have a range of application. The in-car showing what you were actually doing at the time ( fidgeting , turning in too early etc) can be quite instructive. The latest Gopro at last has remote bluetooth control built in which is a must if you have a cage mounting behind you ! I think you have to bite the bullet and get proper kit - costs about same as a new tyre! , and get it from Chris W

Laurence, Interesting that you should comment, historically I have always gone in very deep at Cascades whereas John L was turning in earlier, this time out I took a hybrid line between our two approaches which seemed to work in that I was getting through reasonably quickly but the car clearly had more to give. With my earlier later turn-in the car felt like I was wrestling it round... Got to be a good excuse to go back soon and try again [:D] Cheers, Kevin

Nice one Alex...but I think you need a bit less camber on the camera next time. [;)]

Thanks Steve, I've never watched myself from behind before :) Did just over 250 miles on the day --- committed to starting to run-in a new engine build. Was using 4,000 max at the start, 5,500 at the end ... But the car felt very planted in the corners on the new Dunlop DZ03G's ... !

The RS day is one of the most Magical of all, really thanks to those who organise it and turn uo on the day. How did you find the Dunlops, can you compare them to the Mich Pilot Cups ?

Got a new video editor which is a bit of a pain..... Finally I think that this is 5mins of me trying to keep up with Paul C and Spud.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bc6K-Pc8MNc

Sorry, the stupid video editor handles all the uploads unlike my previous much easier to use one! Try now; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bc6K-Pc8MNc
