Owners Roll Call !

Actually, just thinking about it. my car has the 924 to 968 club sticker in it. is that the same sticker? if so then someone must know who owned it before me? my reg is HYF 690W. would be nice if anyone knew anything. Cheers Chris.

I agree, but when I registered, I did put in my membership number which is on my profile, but it did not come up on the screen. I have exchanged many e-mails with Paul Hedges at the PCGB on other matters, so he does know of me. Where's my sticker, I want one!!!

Just because you're a member you don't automatically get on the register, nor will you get the sticker. You send a form and an SAE to Paul to get logged on his register (the register register [&:]) and bingo, your sticker will find its way back to you.

Paul, are the forms downloadable from the clubs main website?

Phil

Yes I am on the Club Register, and my name is on page 101 of April Porsche post. (Christine Drake) for sending some updated information on my car. I think Paul has forgotten me.

Er... um...

Sorry Christine, I will get there... honest [:)]
(Paul mumbles various lame excuses)
Welcome to the forum!

Chris

Both your registration and your name do not appear anywhere on my register database!!

If you send me an e-mail to 924@porscheclubgb.com I will e-mail a register form to rectify this.

Hello!!!!

I guess I'm kind of a new boy - recently got my second 924. Foolishly sold my Silver auto about 2 years ago but recently bought an '84 Guards Red 2.0 Manual and am over the moon to have one again!!!!

Forgot how good they are to drive and didn't realise what a difference the manual transmission has on the driving experience.

this one is a lot more pleasent to drive long distances so I'm looking forward to seeing you all about...

See you soon

Tim

Welcome Tim
Happy motoring, I'm sure we will soon see you soon out and about in your P.A.J.

Let' s hear from all you 924 owners out there - new or established members

Say hello! [:)]

PaulHere - Probably sneakin' in under the wire a bit here, but I used to have one. Great little car. Would totally recommend it. Picked it up at a very reasonable price, although it did take me a good week, dawn to dusk, to get it clean. Short of a thorough service, it was mecanically sound however.

Presently driving a 911 3.2. SORRY!

R.

Well I've found my way in here - although my messages seem to have problems finding their way out - if only Microsoft could run like a 924
everybody would love Bill Gates.

I've had my custom goldy coloured one since Jan 93. As I mentioned in an article (PP Feb 04 p 75) which I'm grateful to Paul for pointing out to me had got published, I only intended to keep it for a short while but after a couple of weeks I suddenly understood it and I can't bear to get rid of it. Tell anyone who mentions an LT van engine that more powerful class winning race engines were built from that Audi block than in any 928 flagship road model. I put other facts in that article too. Belated thanks to Geoff Ivey who helped me.
The 924 separates the men from the boys (mostly TV journalists and Stephen Mummery) - all the men have had one.

I'd certainly get bored long term with the 993 I drove on a taster day (PP Jun 05 p40) which I drove hard (I really had to try to be nice to it).

Roland Hitchcott

PS I'm collating list of roads, mainly B and C that are free of traffic with clear bends (moors) and great fun. If anyone knows of a great bit of road let me know!

Hi,
i'm a very new 924S owner, 6 days in fact, enjoying ever minute can't stop driving it, previous cars Golf Mk1GTI, Astra GTE, don't think i'll be going there again !.Pleased to see such a good club scene, will be sending form off soon.

Jeff.........

Hi Jeff,
Welcome. Good to hear you are pleased with the car-you have made a wise choice. I bought my 1986 924s back in January and I can't wait to use it each weekend. I have had no significant problems over the last 10 months other than an exchange speedo and a connection for the fan, both which were covered under warranty from the garage I bought it from.
I have made several 200 mile trips and the car uses virtually no oil. The galvanised bodywork is great with no rust. Any comments you hear about VW/Audi heritage should be viewed as a good thing, as it certainly ensured great build quality-for a 19 year old car mine is amazing. Anyway, Porsche 356 models were VW derived and now Porsche is discussing buying a substantial part of VW as a company!

What year and mileage is your car?
You will certainly find many sources of technical and practical assistance via the forum.

All the best,
Noel.

Thanks Noel, it's good to hear there reliable, this car made a lot of sense to me as a second car, a very useable classic, mine is 1987 White 117k on the clock, but doesnt show the mileage, very clean inside & out.

Cheers
Jeff..........

Hi Nathan, welcome to Porsche ownership and what may well turn out to be a life-long addiction.

Regarding your seat, you could try eBay as they do come up on there (depending on which design/colour you have). E.g. this full set of brown Porsche logo seats currently at £30 - sounds like between the two front seats there is one good seat you could put together (without knowing your colour scheme). Taking the seats out is really easy if you do go down the replacement route.

Alternatively a repair could be pretty cheap; your local independent Porsche specialist probably has links to someone who does interiors, or you can search the forum for recommendations (Southbound is a name that crops up a lot on here since they have original Porsche fabrics available - no website and I don't know the phone number, but you can email southbound@ukgateway.net).

Have you found a specialist locally who knows Porsches inside-out? If not it's probably the first thing you should do - let us know which area you're in and I'm sure there will be recommendations.

Cheers
Dan

Hi Nathan, me again!

A bit out of your way but there's good reports about Paul Sage at Jota Engineering near Horley . 01293 775550. Haven't used him myself but a few from the Sussex region have (with 944Turbo's etc, so he knows our cars.)

Surbiton, that can't be too far from our Sian is it? She's a 924S driver from London. Sian, you out there?

Phil

Hi Phil (and Nathan),

Surbiton isn't far from me at all - I'm in Tooting.
I use RGA independent specialists who are based under the arches at Vauxhall (handy for me as I work in Pimlico!). Bob has done all the work on my car over the last 18 months including a top end rebuild. Let me know if you want any more details.

Nathan, have you any pictures you can post of your new pride and joy?

Sian
