By the way Paul, I forgot to say thanks for mentioning me in the Jan edition of Porsche Post in the 924 section. It was a nice surprise. Just a quick update: passed mot now, and busy replacing parts etc ready for re-spraying. I will post some photos of before and after when i get sorted.

If anyone needs any parts contact Darran - www.porsche-9xx-parts.co.uk there is nothing he hasn't got in stock for a 924 - good prices too!!!! He is a sound guy and is big help to me.

Paul,
Is there a form you can send me electronically to join the register. I have a 1986 924S Auto in Maraschino Red. Bought in November 1997. Just in the process of changing the seats as the old ones had suffered from the old problem of the cloth and vinyl coming apart. Also about to change the registration number (again).
Cheers,

Didn't they bring out a LeMans edition to celebrate the Le Mans victories ?

http://www.356-911.com/post1974/modernspottersguide/porsche924.htm

Porsche 924S Le Mans special edition was built to celebrate Porsche's 12th outright win in the Le Man 24 Hour. A total of 980 Le Mans models were manufactured between July and September 1987, 200 black and 50 white cars were sold in West Germany, 500 for the US market but all were black, and 113 black and 117 were for the"˜Rest of the World' markets. Paint finish and interior trim was only offered in two colour combinations - Alpine White with Ochre/Grey detailing or Black with Turquoise detailing. The exterior side stripes were broken by scripted "˜Le Mans' logos on the lower part of the door, while the rims of the holes in each wheel were in the appropriate Ochre or Turquoise. The upholstery of the white Le Mans was grey/ochre striped flannel cloth with ochre piping or grey/turquoise with turquoise piping for Black cars. All the cars had the 14 inch steering wheels, with cloth door panels colour-coded to match the cloth inserts on the sports seats which were fitted as standard. . All cars came with a 160 BHP engine plus an electric tilt/removable sunroof fitted as standard. The Le Man was slightly lower than the standard S by10mm at the front and 15mm at the rear, with stiffer springs and gas-filled shock absorbers all round. It was also given sport anti-roll bars with diameters of 21.5mm at the front but 20mm, rather than 14mm, at the rear. Wheels were telephone dial cast alloy 6J x 15 at the front and 7J x 15 at the rear.

BUT ... The info on pelicanparts seems to say there was a 924 Le Mans in 1980 ?

Yes there was a 2-litre Le Mans model. It's in Peter Morgans book. Can't find any details to hand just now, but will look it up.
