Rust seems more of an issue on the sills and lower reaches of the 944 (it's those inner and outer sill panels where the rust starts from the inside out).
Tried to upload a picture, but message says it's too big.

I have a 1980 924 in guards red sat on my drive waiting restoration, it has only done 64000 miles with a pristine interior. I have had it sat there for nearly 2 years having purchased it from ebay with the intention of restoring and driving it. Having just written my lovely 2000 model 996 off,[

Hello all
I am now the owner of 924 Carrera GT number 387.
In very '80s red and pinstripe interior. I have ordered my matching red braces and I am working on my annoying city wide boy attitude to match the car.
Been fiddling with cars for 35+ years somewhere in there was a 911 2.2, as well as a raft of British iron and Italian alloy.
I look forward to attending a Porsche meeting or two and hooking up with fellow 924 despots (naturally I exclude Bootsy from this) and pointing out to 911 owners how ill thought out is their car's design.
Are there any other Carrera GT owners here?

I've been a fan of these hugely underrated cars for longer than I care to mention. Truly believe that it's difficult to achieve a bigger smile on your face for the budget! I currently have two:
a) 1986 924S - stored "temporarily" since 2003. Have recently got her fired up again and she runs remarkably well considering the amount of time since she was a daily runner. Nevertheless, there seems to be 101 things that need to be done.
b) 1987 (88 MY) 924S Le Mans. Very low miles (41,000) and FPSH. Currently in dehumidified storage due to it's excellent condition and the fact that I've moved to Munich. Ironic really, spent years tracking down one like this and now the steering wheel is on the wrong side! Consequently may consider selling - so if anybody is after a really cracking example please get in touch.
Best Regards

They are remarkably good cars - and their reputation with the general unwashed populace is completely unfounded. Not much money, great build quality and adequate performance - and no depreciation.
I am not a club type person - but I joined PCGB and have found R9 - West Midlands - really good set of blokes (and girls). I hope your group are good also.

I have owned a 1983 Le Mans 924 (The white one with 'Le Mans' script near the front wheel arches and the racing colours down the side of the car) the 2.0ltr version and not the 2.5ltr for two years. Wedding aniversary present from my wife.
Then earlier this year I sold my much loved Honda Prelude and brought an immaculute Guards red 924S. have done a few tweeks to it and what a fun car to drive. It always bring a smile to my face and I am constantly getting admiring looks from other car drivers on the roads with plenty of waves.
Is it possible to find out if this was one of the 1st 924S rhd to be supplied to the uk as I have looked at many refernce books and found out that for ROW numbers were from : 0- 19999,
my Chassis number is WPOZZZ92ZGN400262
I know that certain numbers and letters relate to year and factory, but I am intrigued to find out more history about the car.
Can you help me please.

Many thanks Paul. I was talking to Chris Horton from 911 & Porsche World yesterday at the Tipec Show at Gaydon and he is doing an article about chassis numbers on Porsche's. I did show him my number and was quite impressed. He was telling me about his 924S body number.
My car was on display on the 911 & Porsche World display. It made my day.[
Cheers Paul and hope to hear from you soon.
